TLDR
In this paper, the evolution of UAVs from World War II to the present is described, and some of the problems associated with the antennas in each frequency band are reviewed.Abstract:
Submarine communication antenna systems are divided into three systems: VLF, HF, and UHF. The evolution of each system from World War II to the present is described, and some of the problems associated with the antennas in each frequency band are reviewed. HF transmission line systems and their losses are discussed, and various environmental problems are considered. Specific examples of stacked and combined antennas are given.read more

A Portable Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communication System Based on Acoustically Actuated Magnetoelectric Antennas
Cunzheng Dong,Xinjun Wang,Hwaider Lin,Yuan Gao,Nian X. Sun,Yifan He,Menghui Li,Cheng Tu,Zhaoqiang Chu,Xianfeng Liang,Huaihao Chen,Yuyi Wei,Mohsen Zaeimbashi +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, a very low frequency (VLF) communication system using one pair of magnetoelectric (ME) antennas has been proposed, where the ME antennas are strain-mediated acoustic resonators operating at their electromechanical resonance in the VLF band.

Effects of a surrounding conducting medium on antenna analysis
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors illustrate failure of standard antenna analysis techniques when the antennas are in conducting media, and show how an analysis can be simplified by the presence of the conducting medium.

Towed antennas for US submarine communications: a historical perspective
D.F. Rivera,Rajeev Bansal +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors trace the earliest work that linked the two together, particularly from the viewpoint of the antenna as the ship's electronic "ears" to the present, where work is being done to provide the "silent service" with the communications sensors needed to participate fully in the battle space of the future.
Antenna Design for Underwater Applications
TL;DR: Underwater antennas were developed in this work for usage in aqueous environments based on mathematical calculations and considerations for the conductivity and permittivity of the medium, which include measurement of radiation characteristics of the antennas in the medium.
