Surface tension of the dimethylsulfoxide/thiophene system at 298.15 K
TLDR
In this article, the surface tension of dimethylsulfoxide (1) + thiophene (2) was determined over the whole composition range at 298.15 K. The densities have been determined with a vibrating tube densimeter and the surface tensions by the differential capillary rise technique.Abstract:
Densities and surface tensions of dimethylsulfoxide (1) + thiophene (2) were determined over the whole composition range at 298.15 K. The densities have been determined with a vibrating tube densimeter and the surface tensions by the differential capillary rise technique. Negative excess surface tensions were observed. From the different equations existing in the literature for estimation of surface tensions of mixtures we have used the equations due to Rice and Teja [1] and Winterfeld, Scriven and Davis [2]. The Rice and Teja's Equation gives better results.read more

Effect of temperature and composition on the density, viscosity surface tension and excess quantities of binary mixtures of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide with thiophene
TL;DR: In this paper, a qualitative analysis on these quantities in terms of molecular interactions is reported. And the surface tension of pure ionic liquid and binary mixtures of [EMIM][TCM] and thiophene were measured at atmospheric pressure at five temperatures (298.15, 308.15 and 348.15 ) and ambient pressure were reported.

Surface and bulk behavior of (dialkylsulfoxides + carbon tetrachloride) mixtures
TL;DR: In this article, the surface tension, surface tension deviations, densities, and excess molar volumes of binary mixtures of carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), diethylsulfoxides (DESO), dipropyl sulfoxide(DPSO), and dibutyls sulfoxide (DSO) have been determined over the entire composition range at (298.15 and 313.15) K. The results were fitted by the Redlich-Kister polynomial

TL;DR: The relationship between the internal pressure, free volume, molar refraction and excess molar thermodynamic properties of binary liquid mixtures of dimethyl sulfoxide + thiophene and dimetil sulfoxide+ pyridine at 298.15K have been evaluated from the experimental measurements of densities, surface tension and refractive index as discussed by the authors.

On the Theory of the Capillary Tube
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of determining the surface tension by the rise of the liquid in capillary tubes has been investigated, and it has been shown that no complete analytical solution of the problem can be obtained, even when the tube is accurately cylindrical.
