Surface Water Pollution and Its Control

TLDR
The A.E.Warn (Anglian Water Authority, Huntingdon) as discussed by the authors is a water pollution control organization based in the UK, which is used for river quality modelling.
Abstract

Rapid and direct determination of wastewater BOD values using a fluorescence technique

TL;DR: In this article, the spectral signatures (both absorption and fluorescence) of settled sewage samples collected as 24-h composites from three different treatment works were found to be similar, having an absorption band at around 280 nm and a fluorescence maximum at 340 nm (using 280 nm excitation).

Physico-chemical parameters for testing of water- A review

TL;DR: The availability of good quality water is an indispensable feature for preventing diseases and improving quality of life It is necessary to know details about different physico-chemical parameters such as colour, temperature, total hardness, pH, sulphate, chloride, DO, BOD, COD, alkalinity used for testing of water.

Monitoring of water quality using fluorescence technique: prospect of on-line process control

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered that the biodegradable chromophoric constituent species are the major contributors to the overall fluorescence within this band, and the intensity of this band has a good correlation with the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) parameter.

Bioaccumulation of chromium, copper and iron in the organs and tissues of Clarias gariepinus in the Olifants River, Kruger National Park

TL;DR: In this article, an investigation was undertaken into the hioaccumulation of Cr, Cu and Fe in the gills, liver, muscle and skin of the fish Clarias gariepinus from two sites on the Olifants River in the Kruger National Park.

Multivariate analysis of trace metals in textile effluents in relation to soil and groundwater.

TL;DR: The correlation study along with linear regression and PCA supported the fact that various elevated metal concentrations emerged from the textile industrial effluents ultimately leading to contamination of the soil and groundwater in their proximity.
