TLDR
Two novel heptanuclear lanthanide clusters of the dicubane-like type [Ln(7)(micro(3)-OH)(8)](13+) (Ln = Ho (1), Yb (2) (13+) were obtained via hydrothermal reaction, and as building blocks, they were formally assembled into porous three-dimensional networks through the linkage of 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylate.
Abstract
Two novel heptanuclear lanthanide clusters of the dicubane-like type [Ln7(μ3-OH)8]13+ (Ln = Ho (1), Yb (2)) were obtained via hydrothermal reaction, and as building blocks, they were formally assembled into porous three-dimensional networks through the linkage of 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylate (1,4-NDA), forming first examples of porous lanthanide polymers with 1,4-NDA, [Ln7(μ3-OH)8(1,4-NDA)6(OH)0.5(Ac)0.5(H2O)7]·4H2O (Ln = Ho, Yb). The coordinating water molecules and lattice water molecules are enclathrated in the cavities.

Discovery and introduction of a (3,18)-connected net as an ideal blueprint for the design of metal–organic frameworks

Structural variation from 1D to 3D: effects of ligands and solvents on the construction of lead(II)-organic coordination polymers.

TL;DR: The structural differences between 7 and 8 and between 9 and 10 indicate the importance of solvents for framework formation of the coordination polymers, and by varying the solvent the cis and trans conformations of H(2)chdc in 9 and10 were separated completely.

Magnetic bistability in a metal-ion cluster

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the magnetization of the Mn12 cluster is highly anisotropic and the magnetisation relaxation time becomes very long below a temperature of 4 K, giving rise to pronounced hysteresis.

A net-based approach to coordination polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, it is proposed that carefully designed connecting ligands capable of binding metal centres strongly and predictably at chelating sites may afford improved structural control in network assembly and more robust network structures.

Ligand-controlled self-assembly of polynuclear lanthanide–oxo/hydroxo complexes: from synthetic serendipity to rational supramolecular design

TL;DR: Rational design and synthesis of polynuclear lanthanide–hydroxo species via ligand-controlled hydrolysis of the lanthanides ions yielded a series of highly sophisticated yet structurally well-defined lanthanid–hydrogen complexes that are potentially applicable to the study of biomimetic catalysis of phosphate diester cleavage.
