TLDR
Comprehensive comparison of the several models supported a novel, psychometrically robust, and unbiased 3-factor 14-item solution, with factors that are more in line with current diagnostic criteria for depression.Abstract:
Background
The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D; Radloff, 1977) is a commonly used freely available self-report measure of depressive symptoms. Despite its popularity, several recent investigations have called into question the robustness and suitability of the commonly used 4-factor 20-item CES-D model. The goal of the current study was to address these concerns by confirming the factorial validity of the CES-D.read more

Class-based antiretroviral exposure and cognition among women living with HIV (WLWH)
TL;DR: In this article , exposure to specific antiretroviral therapies (ART) and cognition among women living with HIV (WLWH) was investigated, and generalized estimating equations were used to evaluate repeated measures of cognition over time in association with ART class exposure.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors used advanced machine learning (ML) techniques to systematically compare the prediction of functional recovery, cognitive function, depression, and mortality of first-ever ischemic stroke patients and to identify the leading prognostic factors.

PAIN-related cognitions and emotional distress are not associated with conditioned pain modulation: an explorative analysis of 1142 participants with acute, subacute, and chronic pain.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors explored whether common negative pain cognitions and emotional factors were related to lower CPM in individuals across the spectrum from acute to chronic pain and found that the presence of any negative psychological factor nor the cumulative sum of negative psychological factors were associated with lower reduced conditioned pain modulation.

A Preliminary Study of Proinflammatory Cytokines and Depression Following West Nile Virus Infection
TL;DR: While symptomatic WNV infection, encephalitis, and obesity were associated with new onset depression following infection, the role of proinflammatory cytokines requires additional studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expectations of immediate and delayed reward differentially affect cognitive task performance
TL;DR: This article used a modified Monetary Incentive Delay task to examine the neural mechanisms underlying anticipating and receiving an immediate or delayed reward and examined the influence of pursuing these rewards on cognitive task performance.

The CES-D Scale: A Self-Report Depression Scale for Research in the General Population
TL;DR: The CES-D scale as discussed by the authors is a short self-report scale designed to measure depressive symptomatology in the general population, which has been used in household interview surveys and in psychiatric settings.

An inventory for measuring depression
TL;DR: The difficulties inherent in obtaining consistent and adequate diagnoses for the purposes of research and therapy have been pointed out and a wide variety of psychiatric rating scales have been developed.
