The predictive value of endodontic diagnostic tests.

TLDR
The diagnostic usefulness of common endodontic tests was evaluated through the retrospective analysis of studies in which histologic examinations were performed and it was suggested that practitioners continue to use all available evidence in making a diagnosis of irreversible pulpal disease.

The periapical index: A scoring system for radiographic assessment of apical periodontitis

TL;DR: The PAI system is reasonably accurate, reproducible and able to discriminate between sub-populations and may be suitable for the analysis of periapical radiographs in epidemiological studies, in clinical trials and in retrospective analyses of treatment results in endodontics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Outcome of primary root canal treatment: systematic review of the literature -- Part 2. Influence of clinical factors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors carried out meta-analyses to quantify the influence of the clinical factors on the efficacy of primary root canal treatment and to identify the best treatment protocol based on the current evidence.
Journal ArticleDOI

A prospective study of the factors affecting outcomes of nonsurgical root canal treatment: part 1: periapical health.

TL;DR: Success based on periapical health associated with roots following 1°RCTx (83%) or 2°R CTx (80%) was similar, with 10 factors having a common effect on both, whilst the 11th factor 'EDTA as an additional irrigant' had different effects on the two treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Apexification: a review

TL;DR: This paper reviews the rationale and techniques for treatment of the non-vital immature tooth and introduction of techniques for one-visit apexification provide an alternative treatment option in these cases.
Journal ArticleDOI

A clinical study of direct pulp capping applied to carious-exposed pulps.

TL;DR: Results showed that direct pulp capping was applicable to carious-exposed pulp, and the degree of bleeding is indicative of the prognosis of this treatment.

Foundations of Epidemiology

TL;DR: This introductory text gives an exceptionally clear and well organized account of epidemiologic concepts and methods, emphasizing the sequence of reasoning from different types of data that lead to inferences about the etiology or natural history of disease.

Variables associated with electric pulp testing.

TL;DR: Several technique variables were introduced and found to have a significant effect on transmission of the stimulus to the tooth.
