A model for chlorine concentration decay in pipes
TL;DR: In this article, a generalized expression for chlorine consumption at the pipe wall is used to solve the governing equation and to determine the average chlorine concentration at any location in the pipe, and a methodology to determine them in pipe networks is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Testing various mixing rules for calculation of viscosity of petroleum blends
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared 17 mixing rules reported in the literature for predicting kinematic viscosity of petroleum and its fractions by comparing the estimated values with the experimental viscosities of four crude oils (21.31, 15.93, 12.42 and 9.89°API gravity) and their blends with a diluent (diesel) at several proportion.

Competitive adsorption of a binary CO2-CH4 mixture in nanoporous carbons: effects of edge-functionalization.
Xiaoqing Lu,Dongliang Jin,Shuxian Wei,Mingmin Zhang,Zhu Qing,Xiaofan Shi,Zhigang Deng,Wenyue Guo,Wenzhong Shen +8 more
TL;DR: This work highlights the potential of edge-functionalized NPCs in competitive adsorption, capture, and separation for the binary CO2-CH4 mixture, and provides an effective and superior alternative strategy in the design and screening of adsorbent materials for carbon capture and storage.

Dissolution modeling: factors affecting the dissolution rates of polydisperse powders
TL;DR: The dissolution rates of two lots of hydrocortisone (fine and coarse) were simulated using a computer program based on a Noyes–Whitney-type equation to approximate better the shape of the hydrocortsone particles, and a shape factor was used to relate cylindrical length to radius.

Bezafibrate removal by means of ozonation: primary intermediates, kinetics, and toxicity assessment.
Renato F. Dantas,Marisa Canterino,Raffaele Marotta,Carme Sans,Santiago Esplugas,Roberto Andreozzi +5 more
TL;DR: The results obtained in this work show that ozonation is an efficient method to degrade BZF: after 10 min of treatment, the complete BzF abatement is achieved, starting from an initial concentration of 0.5 mmol L(-1), and the assessment of by-products biodegradability and acute toxicity demonstrates that oz onation is a suitable technique to improve the biodegradation and reduce the toxicity of waters containing BZf.
