The role of cyanide liberation in the acute toxicity of aliphatic-nitriles

TLDR
The results suggested that the other nitriles examined here possess little, if any, acute toxicity in the absence of normal hepatic function and that these nit riles were activated by hepatic mechanisms to release cyanide which can account for their major acute toxic effects.

Interaction of a series of nitriles with the alcohol-inducible isoform of P450: Computer analysis of structure—activity relationships

TL;DR: Correlations between molecular polarizability, excitation energy and biological activity are presented as a result of QSAR analysis on nitriles of varying rates of P4502E-mediated oxidative metabolism.

Toxicological profile for cyanide

TL;DR: This edition supersedes any previously released draft or final profile and succinctly characterizes the toxicologic and adverse health effects information for the hazardous substance described therein.

Studies on the mechanism of acute toxicity of nitriles in mice.

TL;DR: All the test nitriles liberated cyanide ions both in vivo and in vitro, with the exception of benzonitrile, although the extent of liberation and the effect of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) pretreatment on the mortality of animals differed amongNitriles.

Organic nitrogen compounds

TL;DR: In this article, a process for the preparation of quaternary ammonium compounds is described. But this process is restricted to a single type of compound and is not suitable for other compounds.

A study of the kinetics of the oxidation of cytochrome c by cytochrome c oxidase.

TL;DR: The results can best be explained by assuming an inhibitory effect of cytochrome c (either oxidized or reduced) on the reaction, which can explain a number of discrepancies previously apparent in studies of the kinetics of cy tochrome c oxidase activity.
