TLDR
In this article, the physical and chemical transformations of the oxidant-polluted air mass resulting from high precursor emission fluxes of NO x and reactive hydrocarbons (HCs) in the Tokyo metropolitan area and their subsequent long-range transport (LRT) within the Kanto Plain and Nagano Prefecture regions of Japan are evaluated through field observations and model analysis.

The STEM-II regional scale acid deposition and photochemical oxidant model—I. An overview of model development and applications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors described the combination of the STEM-II/ASM/RSM model and the Reactive Scavenging Model (RSM) for acid deposition.

Tropospheric ozone production and transport in the springtime in east Asia

TL;DR: Ozone transport and chemistry in the springtime in east Asia are studied by use of the STEM-II (Sulfur Transport Eulerian Model) regional-scale transport/chemistry model as discussed by the authors.

Systematic variations in the concentration of NO x (NO Plus NO2) at Niwot Ridge, Colorado

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the concentrations of NO and NO2 in the rural troposphere during a year's period in 1980-1981, during the summers of 1983, 1984, and 1987, and during the fall of 1984.

Long‐range transport of SO x and dust in East Asia during the PEM B Experiment

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the transport of SO2 and sulfate in East Asia (including eastern China, Korea, and Japan) during the period of March 1 through March 14, 1994, using a 3D regional-scale atmospheric chemistry model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of climatological and air quality observations from Greater Athens Area

TL;DR: In this paper, the air quality in the Athens Basin is strongly affected by the meteorological conditions, especially those which are in favor of local circulations, and the worst air pollution episodes are associated with anticyclonic conditions and/or advection of warm air masses.

Relative humidity and temperature dependence of the ammonium nitrate dissociation constant

TL;DR: In this article, the NH4NO3 dissociation constant was predicted from fundamental thermodynamic principles and the general trends predicted by the theory agree with the atmospheric data of Appel et al. (1979, 1980), Pitts (1978, 1979) and Tuazon et al (1980).
Journal ArticleDOI

A chemical mechanism for use in long‐range transport/acid deposition computer modeling

TL;DR: In this article, a chemical mechanism for the gas phase atmospheric oxidation of NOx and sulfur dioxide (SO2) in the presence of reactive hydrocarbons (RHC) has been developed for use in long-range transport modeling.

A Simulation of the Wangara Atmospheric Boundary Layer Data

TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchy of turbulent boundary layer models, all based on the same closure assumptions for the triple turbulence moments, are compared with two days of Wangara atmospheric boundary layer data (Clarke et al., 1971).

A second generation model for regional-scale transport/chemistry/deposition

TL;DR: In this paper, a second-generation Eulerian model is used to analyze the regional transport, chemistry and deposition of acidifying compounds, photochemical oxidants, and their precursors.

A Comparison of Interpolation Methods for Sparse Data: Application to Wind and Concentration Fields

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared three data sets: an idealized concentration distribution to which the exact solution is known, a potential flow field, and surface ozone concentrations measured in the Los Angeles Basin on a particular day.
