The rhetoric of consensus politics: a critical review of technology assessment

TL;DR: In this article, the author examines the literature on technology assessment and attempts to develop an analysis of its real political significance, as opposed to those overly optimistic prognostications that have seen it as the new panacea, and argues that this data collection (social indicators) is selectively constrained and structured by the prior commitment to consensus around a particular idea of the goals, purpose and meaning of social life.

Embodiment, experience and theory: in defence of the sociological tradition

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that sociology's central concepts evoke dimensions of human experience that remain highly pertinent to an understanding of the individual and societal significance of the body in the contemporary era, and that it is necessary to reject the dominant problematic of sociology and utilise non disciplinary resources if we are to understand issues surrounding the 'lived experience' of embodiment.
