Aluminum speciation and equilibria in aqueous solution: II. The solubility of gibbsite in acidic sodium chloride solutions from 30 to 70°C

TL;DR: The Pitzer ion interaction treatment was used in this paper to calculate the Gibbs energy of the reaction at 30, 50, and 70C with the initial acidity controlled by addition of HCl.
Journal ArticleDOI

The semi-ideal solution theory for mixed ionic solutions at solid-liquid-vapor equilibrium.

TL;DR: From these equations, the widely applied empirical Zdanovskii's rule is derived theoretically, and the important constant in the McKay-Perring equation under isopiestic equilibrium is determined theoretically, which has been substantiated by comparisons with the experimental results for 18 mixtures reported in the literature.

Volume changes for mixing the major sea salts: Equations valid to ionic strength 3.0 and temperature 95°C

TL;DR: In this paper, the volume change on mixing any combination of the sea salts NaCl, Na2SO4, MgSO4 and MgCl2 at constant ionic strength was derived.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pitzer Ion Interaction Parameters of Single Aqueous Electrolytes at 25°C

TL;DR: In this article, the ion interaction parameters (Pitzer parameters), β(0, β(1), and Cφ) for 52 single 1-1 electrolytes in aqueous solutions have been obtained from experimental data in the literature on the thermodynamic properties at 25°C using Pitzer's equations.

Thermodynamics of the System HCl + SmCl3 + H2O from 5 to 55°C. Application of Harned's Rule and the Pitzer Formalism

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive array of electrochemical cell measurements for the system HCl +SmCl3 + H2O was made from 5 to 55°C using a cell without liquid junction of the type:Pt; H2(g, 1 atm)|HCl (mA) + SmCl3 (mB)|AgCl, Ag (A)The present study, unlike previous studies of trivalent ions, are not complicated by hydrolysis reactions.
