TLDR
The activity of thiamine pyrophosphatase was determined in segments and segment subfractions from normal and crushed sciatic nerves of the cat and the highest activity was in a fraction rich in tubular and vesicular elements resembling those observed in intact compressed nerves.Abstract:
—The activity of thiamine pyrophosphatase was determined in segments and segment subfractions from normal and crushed sciatic nerves of the cat. Activity of the enzyme was increased in segments near the site of compression. The highest activity of the enzyme was in a fraction rich in tubular and vesicular elements resembling those observed in intact compressed nerves. On morphological grounds these structures have been interpreted as originating from Golgi-like structures.read more

Alterations of thiamine phosphorylation and of thiamine-dependent enzymes in Alzheimer's disease
TL;DR: A growing body of evidence suggests that thiamine neurochemistry is disrupted in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) as discussed by the authors, and studies in autopsied brain tissue from neuropathologically proven AD patients reveal significantly reduced activities of the thiamines phosphate dephosphorylating enzymes thiamINE diphosphatase (TDPase) and thiaminea monophosphatases (TMPase), as well as the thienine diphophosphate-dependent enzymes, pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, α-ketoglutarate

TL;DR: It is suggested that endogenous synaptic vesicle PLA2 activity may be an important mechanism underlying Ca2+ ‐mediated neurotransmitter release.

Vesicular transport of myelin proteolipid and cerebroside sulfates to the myelin membrane
TL;DR: The presence of myelin proteolipid in a vesicular fraction which is related to the transport of cerebroside sulfates gives further support to the hypothesis that the delivery of both constituents to the myelin membrane could be associated.
