Time trends and factorial experiments
TLDR
In this article, the authors used the principle of foldover designs to arrange the runs in a factorial experiment in sequences so that the main effects and, sometimes, the two-factor interactions are uncorrelated with linear or quadratic time trends.Abstract:
When factorial experiments are carried out over a period of time, the response may be subject to time trends. This might happen, for example, with the steady buildup of deposits in a test engine. This article shows how to arrange the runs in a factorial experiment in sequences so that the main effects and, sometimes, the two-factor interactions are uncorrelated with linear or quadratic time trends. This is achieved by using the principle of foldover designs. Trendfree sequences are obtained for both 2 n and 3 n factorials.read more

Experimentation order with good properties for 2 k factorial designs
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a new methodology to obtain experimentation orders with the desired properties for designs with any number of runs, and showed that an important proportion of random orders achieve the same degree of protection as that obtained by experimenting in the design matrix standard order.

TL;DR: In this article, the substrate of a 2 n − q factorial or fractional factorial experiment may be expected to show trends representable by linear and quadratic terms in time, and certain orderings spaced at equal time-intervals permit better estimation of the effects than do others.
