Trends and community annoyance reactions to odors from pulp mills Eureka, California 1969–1971
TLDR
It was shown that both the frequency with which odor was noticed and the frequency and intensity with which respondents to an interview expressed annoyance corresponded to the presumptive exposure gradient across three residential areas.About:

Coping with odour annoyance and odour concentrations: Three field studies
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used two dispersion models of malodour: one model with average meteorological data as input, calculates average exposure to odour concentrations, and the second model with momentary actual weather data as inputs, calculates momentary exposure, and concluded that average concentrations are superior to momentary concentrations in predicting annoyance.
Draft toxicological profile for hydrogen sulfide and carbonyl sulfide
C.-H. Selene J. Chou,Jona M. Ogden,Hana R. Pohl,Franco Scinicariello,Lisa Ingerman,Mario Citra +5 more
TL;DR: The ATSDR toxicological profile succinctly characterizes the toxicologic and adverse health effects information for these toxic substances described therein, and supersedes any previously released draft or final profile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Objective evaluation of an odour nuisance problem based on inquiry results
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used simple statistical calculations to find that there was a significant difference between responses from both areas and showed that the presence of the odour source resulted in significantly different responses up to a distance of 600 m from the source.

Identifying and Controlling Odor in the Municipal Wastewater Environment - Health Effects of Biosolids Odors: A Literature Review and Analysis
TL;DR: In this article, the experience of odors from biosolids at wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) causes illness, and the relationship between degree of exposure and complaints is examined.

Public reaction to air pollution in Nashville, Tennessee
TL;DR: The results indicate widespread concern about air pollution, and the degree of concern is, in general, closely related to the level of air contamination experienced by interviewed people.

Community reactions to odors from pulp mills: A pilot study in Eureka, California.
TL;DR: It should be possible to formulate a quantitative relationship between measurements of exposure to pulp mill odors and community reactions, and further refinement in methods and a larger number of observations representing a broader span of exposures are necessary.
