Unusual X-Ray Characteristics of Vermiculite from Wiry, Lower Silesia, Poland

TLDR
In this article, X-ray diffraction simulations and fitting techniques show that the 28 A peak is related to 28 A domains consisting of elongated 2:1 layers of different lengths.
Abstract
Coarse-grained vermiculite from a serpentinite-pegmatite thermal zone displays a rational series of narrow 14.4 A basal reflections and an unusual broad 28 A peak. X-ray diffraction simulations and fitting techniques show that the 28 A peak is related to 28 A domains consisting of elongated 2:1 layers of different lengths. The domains are located at the crystal edges of the vermiculite.

Serpentine-smectite interstratified minerals from lower silesia (sw poland)

TL;DR: In this paper, the interstratified serpentine-smectite was found in the fine-grained fraction of altered metasomatic contact biotite-schists developed between serpentinite and granite-type rocks (Lower Silesia ophiolite sequence, Poland).

Effects of exchanged cation, acid treatment and high shear mechanical treatment on the swelling and the particle size distribution of vermiculite

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of three different chemical treatments on the swelling and the particle size distribution of a vermiculite sample from of the State of Goias, central-west Brazil, by using inorganic solutions of LiCl, NaCl, and HCl, accompanied by a high shear mechanical treatment.

Influence of crystal structure defects on the small-angle neutron scattering/diffraction patterns of clay-rich porous media

TL;DR: In this paper, small-angle neutron scattering and neutron diffraction patterns are calculated for three-dimensional virtual porous media representative of packed swelling clay particles (i.e., 0.1-0.2 µm size fraction of vermiculite).

The Lorentz-polarization factor and preferred orientation in oriented clay aggregates

TL;DR: In this article, a closed-form equation was derived that describes the powder-ring distribution factor as a function of 20, soller slit collimation, and or*, which was defined as the standard deviation of an axiaUy symmetrical Gaussian orientation function.
