UPb zircon geochronology of late Archaean metamorphic rocks in the Taihangshan—Wutaishan area, North China

TLDR
In this paper, a geochronological study has been made in the Taihangshan-Wutaishan area, Shanxi Province, on a sequence of Precambrian supracrustal rocks and stratigraphically related intrusives, where the authors employed the U-Pb zircon approach on selected parts of the sequences to provide direct depositional ages or age constraints for the Fuping and Wutai Groups and to find the age(s) of subsequent metamorphic processes.

Archean blocks and their boundaries in the North China Craton: lithological, geochemical, structural and P–T path constraints and tectonic evolution

TL;DR: In this paper, a mantle plume model is proposed for the formation and evolution of Late Archean basement rocks in the Eastern and Western Blocks based on a combination of extensive exposure of TTG gneisses, affinities of mafic rocks to continental tholeiitic basalts, presence of voluminous komatiitic rocks, dominant diaprism-related domiform structures, anticlockwise P-T paths, and a short time span from the primary emplacement of the TTG and ultramafic-to-maf

Crustal evolution of southeastern China: Nd and Sr isotopic evidence

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a synthesis of crustal evolution in SE China based on extensive Nd and Sr isotopic data compiled from the literature for intrusive granitoids, volcanic, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks from three major tectonic units of SE China: Dabie, Yangtze and Cathaysia.

Age and evolution of a late Archean to Paleoproterozoic upper to lower crustal section in the Wutaishan/Hengshan/Fuping terrain of northern China

TL;DR: In this paper, the Hengshan and Fuping granitoid gneisses are interpreted as the lower, plutonic, part of a late Archean to early Paleoproterozoic Japan-type magmatic arc, with the upper, volcanic part represented by the Wutai complex.

Metamorphism of basement rocks in the Central Zone of the North China Craton: implications for Paleoproterozoic tectonic evolution

TL;DR: The Central Zone of the North China Craton is divisible into low-to medium-grade granite-greenstone belts and high-grade metamorphic terrains containing reworked Archean material and late Archean to Paleoproterozoic juvenile igneous and sedimentary rocks which developed in intra-continental magmatic arc and intra-arc basin environments as discussed by the authors.

SHRIMP U-Pb zircon ages of the Fuping Complex: implications for Late Archean to Paleoproterozoic accretion and assembly of the North China Craton

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used U-Pb geochronology combined with cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging of zircon enables resolution of magmatic and metamorphic events that can be directed towards understanding the late Archean to Paleoproterozoic history of the Fuping Complex.

Least squares fitting of a straight line with correlated errors

TL;DR: In this paper, the fitting of a straight line when both variables are subject to crrors is generalized to allow for correlation of the z and y errors, illustrated by reference to lead isochron fitting.

Calculation of uncertainties of U-Pb isotope data

TL;DR: In this article, the estimation of errors and error correlations for various types of U-Pb isotope data, taking into account ion-beam instabilities, run-to-run variability in mass-discrimination, uncertainties in Pb and U concentrations, and uncertainties in initial Pb amount and isotopic composition, are derived.

Discordant uranium‐lead ages, I

TL;DR: In this paper, a graphical procedure is described for rapid calculation of discordant uraniumlead ages resulting from multiple episodes of uranium-lead fractionation, which is extended to permit the calculation of the effect of the presence of primary radiogenic lead and constant loss of intermediate daughter products.
