Vocal Parameters and Self-Perception in Individuals With Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia.

TLDR
Perceptual-auditory analysis and self-perception proved to be efficient in the recognition of vocal changes and of the vocal impact on individuals with adductor spasmodic dysphonia under treatment with botulinum toxin, permitting the quantitation of changes along time.

Voice analysis in adductor spasmodic dysphonia: Objective diagnosis and response to botulinum toxin.

TL;DR: Cepstral analysis and machine-learning algorithms are new tools that offer meaningful support to clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of adductor-type spasmodic dysphonia.

Speech-Language Pathology Evaluation and Management of Hyperkinetic Disorders Affecting Speech and Swallowing Function.

TL;DR: The standard SLP clinical speech and swallowing evaluation of chorea/Huntington’s disease, myoclonus, focal and segmental dystonia, and essential vocal tremor typically includes case history and evaluation of speech characteristics.

Spasmodic Dysphonia: A Review. Part 2: Characterization of Pathophysiology:

TL;DR: The diagnosis of spasmodic dysphonia can be difficult due to the lack of a scientific consensus on diagnostic criteria and the fact that other voice disorders may present similarly.

Vocal Congruence: The Voice and the Self Measured by Interoceptive Awareness

TL;DR: When analyzed with other measures of personality, anxiety, mood, and voice handicap, the Vocal Congruence Scale appears to measure a unique aspect of vocal identity with one's self that encompasses interoceptive awareness.

The voice handicap index (VHI) : Development and validation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a statistically robust Voice Handicap Index (VH-Index) to quantify the psychosocial consequences of voice disorders, which was used to measure the psychOSocial consequences associated with voice disorders.

Perceptual Evaluation of Voice Quality

TL;DR: A theoretical framework is proposed that attributes variability in ratings to several sources (including listeners' backgrounds and biases, the task used to gather ratings, interactions between listeners and tasks, and random error), leading to more reliable perceptual ratings and a better understanding of the perceptual qualities of pathological voices.

TL;DR: Botulinum toxin A injection of the laryngeal hyperfunctional muscles has been found over the past 12 years to be the treatment of choice to control the dystonic symptoms in most patients with spasmodic dysphonia.
