We hypothesize that the enhanced propensity to form SM-/cholesterol-rich rafts as well as PUFA-rich/cholesterol-poor microdomains would modify the function of proteins for which these respective regions provide a platform.
This suggests that formation of the isotropic phase is the result of a synergistic effect between the peptides and cholesterol.
Our study indicates that a cholesterol diet resulted in a balanced reorganization of the collagen composition but did not result in marked collagen accumulation.
