TL;DR: In this paper, a novel epoxy resins containing zinc acrylate have been synthesized by reacting zinc with bisphenol-A and an excess of epichlorohydrin.
Abstract: Novel epoxy resins containing zinc acrylate have been synthesized by reacting zinc acrylate with bisphenol-A and an excess of epichlorohydrin. Parameters such as epoxy equivalent weight, hydroxyl content, and hydrolyzable chlorine content have been estimated. These resins, characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR, have been evaluated by thermal analysis. Curing was carried out with polyamide at 130°C for 24 h. Cured resins have improved thermal and chemical resistance. The reaction follows first-order kinetics with activation energy 86 and 34 kJ mol−1 in the presence and absence of zinc acrylate. The role of zinc, which increases epoxidation due to formation of complex with bisphenol-A, has been discussed. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

TL;DR: In this article, the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A epoxy resin (EPON 828®) was cured with 4,4′-diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS) and, optionally, an animophenyl functional reactive polyether (R-PES, ⟨ Mn ⟩=10k) as a co-curing agent.
Abstract: The diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A epoxy resin (EPON 828®) was cured with 4,4′-diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS) and, optionally, an animophenyl functional reactive polyethersulfone (R-PES, ⟨ Mn ⟩=10k) as a co-curing agent. Commercial polysulfone, Udel® P-1700, was also utilized to afford epoxy-Udel® blends (or semi-IPNs). Cured epoxy polymers were subjected to Tg determinations, plane strain fracture toughness (KIC) tests, adhesive bond strength measurements, tensile tests and chemical resistance studies. The morphologies of the fractured samples were studied by SEM and correlated to the property changes. Only the reactive polysulfone modification improved both fracture toughness and adhesive properties without detracting from the good mechanical properties and chemical resistance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength, chemical resistance and heat resistance as well as to have hardness in the same degree on any part of a sucking plate by forming both of a porous part constituting the sucking plate and a solid part firmly surrounding the porous part integrally of ceramics of the same composition. CONSTITUTION:As a sucking plate 1 to be furnished on a vacuum sucking device is constituted of a porous part 4 making an sucking part 2 and a solid part 5 making a support part 3 which are integrally formed of ceramics of the same composition, the porous part 4 has hardness of the solid part 5 and is excellent in mechanical strength, chemical resistance and heat resistance. Consequently, a placing surface 1a can be easily made a smooth and flat surface, and accordingly, it is possible to firmly suck and fix a work piece, and at the same time, the sucking part 2 never falls from the support part 3 by suction force. Additionally, even when cleaning is repeated, ceramic particulates never fall and strength deterioration is not caused even if it is used under high temperature, and accordingly, it is possible to use it for a long period of time.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple method for preparing cationic resins from polycondensation of Egyptian bagasse pith (as a source of cheap and renewable material) with phenol and paraformaldehyde as a cross-linking agent was proposed.
Abstract: The article is concerned with a simple method for preparing cationic resins from polycondensation of Egyptian bagasse pith (as a source of cheap and renewable material) with phenol and paraformaldehyde as a cross-linking agent. Optimum principal reaction conditions of the preparation and properties are determined and compared with resin without bagasse pith content. The Synthesized resins are stable in water, organic solvents, thermal treatment, and mineral acids (1M). The sample having a cation exchange capacity up to 3.92 meq g−1 of dry resins are being introduced as new cationic exchangers. The synthesized resins are used in the study of the possible separation of univalent cations. The rational thermodynamic equilibrium constants (In K) are calculated for Li+ −Na+ exchanges on the resins having a various amount of bagasse pith. The thermodynamic parameters are computed and suitable explanations are described. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
