Abstract: A portable communications device comprises a body with a display, a speaker, a camera and lens, a keypad, and a display cover that is slidably connected to the body. The display cover is movable over the display between at least two positions. When the cover is in one of these positions, the camera is activated and the display operates as a viewfinder for the camera. The sliding cover permits the optimisation of the display size for use as a viewfinder. Moreover, the position of the sliding cover relative to the body of the device may be used as a selector to determine the operating mode. There is thus no need to navigate a menu using a keyboad prior to photographing. Rather the function of the device may be automatically selected by sliding the cover to obscure a greater or lesser area of the display.

If a use is selected, a widget to be operated next is highlighted on the screen in accordance with a pre-registered operating sequence to guide the user in his or her operating sequence. A cover screen hiding the inherent screen of the software is displayed, and the software use is displayed on the cover screen by a menu. If an operation is performed on the cover screen, an operation equivalent to that performed on the cover screen is executed on the inherent screen of the software.

Abstract: Automatizing information commerce requires languages to represent the typical information commerce processes. Existing languages and standards cover either only very specific types of business models or are too general to capture in a concise way the specific properties of information commerce processes. We introduce a language that is specifically designed for information commerce. It can be directly used for the implementation of the processes and communication required in information commerce. It allows to cover existing business models that are known either from standard proposals or existing information commerce applications on the Internet. The language has a concise logical semantics. We present the language concepts and an implementation architecture.

At least a portion of the cover member (4), including the keys (5) are made of transparent material, allowing the graphical information (60) on the screen (10) to be visible through the cover member (4). If the keys (5) are transparent, multi-functional programmable keys are obtained since the information (60) displayed therethrough may change as the operation of the device (1) changes. Consequently, a single key (5) may display all from figures and letters to symbols, e.g. arrows, depending on the actual operation. In addition, text-rich messages, images and films may be viewed through the cover member (4) and at the same time being modifiable, e.g. zoomed, simply by depressing a key (5). A method for operation control of such an electronic device (1) is also disclosed.
