TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a method for creating and filling a cavity with a reagent that includes a conductive matrix, enzyme, catalyst, and binding agent in a preferred embodiment, leaving enough of an opening to allow the sample to enter.
Abstract: Sensors and methods for producing them are disclosed. A cavity is created and filled with a reagent that includes a conductive matrix, enzyme, catalyst, and binding agent, in a preferred embodiment. The cavity is substantially enclosed, leaving enough of an opening to allow the sample to enter. A portion of the material surrounding the cavity is preferably permeable to a substance useful for measuring reaction, but not to the reagent or the sample. Cavities that have the shape of a cone, conical frustum, pyramidal frustum, and right circular cylinder are given as examples. Other systems include a membrane that contains the sensor’s active area and defines an internal volume of fluid, where the membrane or internal volume has a particular geometric relationship to the active area.

TL;DR: In this paper, the constriction resistance of a semi-infinite cylinder terminating in the frustum of a cone in a gaseous environment is analyzed numerically, and a nonlinear curve fitting method is used to develop a comprehensive predictive correlation for the constrict resistance as a function of these parameters.
Abstract: The constriction resistance of a semi-infinite cylinder terminating in the frustum of a cone in a gaseous environment is analyzed numerically. The variation of constriction resistance with the ratio of contact radius to cylinder radius, the cone angle, and the gas-to-substrate thermal conductivity ratio is investigated. Nonlinear curve fitting is used to develop a comprehensive predictive correlation for the constriction resistance as a function of these parameters. The parameters are investigated over a wide range of values covering the range expected in practical applications. The correlation could be used in conjunction with an appropriate surface deformation model to predict the thermal contact resistance between rough metallic surfaces.

TL;DR: In this paper, the shape of the triangular pyramid frustum element satisfies following requirements: one side length of the bottom surface is in the range of 50 to 400 μm, and a difference between a longest side and a shortest side is 200 μm or less.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a retroreflective sheeting that exhibits proper retroreflection even at a small incident angle with no or less halation, and has superior incident angularities and superior direction characteristics, as well as a film for use in the retroreflective sheeting. The retroreflective sheeting with the above characteristics is obtained by forming reflective elements of a specific triangular pyramidal frustum configuration in a close-packed state on one surface thereof. The shape of the triangular pyramid frustum element satisfies following requirements: one side length of the bottom surface is in the range of 50 to 400 μm, and a difference between a longest side and a shortest side is 200 μm or less; the length of a longest edge is in the range of 50 to 400 μm, and a difference between the longest edge and a shortest edge among the three edges is 100 μm or less; when a vertical line which intersects perpendicularly with the bottom surface is drawn from a top surface to the bottom surface, the length of a longest vertical line is in the range of 20 to 250 μm; and an angle between adjacent side surfaces is in the range of 85 to 95 degrees.

TL;DR: In this paper, a viewport is defined in the space configured with a frustum enclosing the 3D object (706), as well as a matte of the object in relation to the light source within the space.
Abstract: The image of at least one 3D object (706) is generated within a compositing space having at least one light source. A viewport (1704) is defined in the space configured with a frustum enclosing the 3D object (706), as well as a matte of the object in relation to the light source within the space. The matte is accumulated in an accumulating shadow texture, the object being rendered in an image frame defined by the frustum including the accumulating shadow texture. Realistic shadows cast from 3D objects in the compositing space can be shown, including combinations of shadows cast by a collection of objects.

TL;DR: In this article, a sheet material such as paper or the like is formed into a box of an inverted frustum square pyramid, and foldable tongue pieces 8a, 8b that can be folded down to cover an upper opening part are formed at a pair of opposing wall portions in the wall portions 4a to 4d at locations where they become upper edges under their raised-up state.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging container for confectionery or the like in which the stored confectionery or the like hardly produces a deformation and cream or the like of the confectionery is scarcely adhered to the packaging material and its outer appearance is hardly deteriorated. SOLUTION: A sheet material such as paper or the like is formed into a box of an inverted frustum square pyramid. Foldable tongue pieces 8a, 8b that can be folded down to cover an upper opening part 5 are formed at a pair of opposing wall portions 4c, 4d in the wall portions 4a to 4d at locations where they become upper edges under their raised-up state. Protrusions 9a, 9b are formed at both ends of these tongue pieces 8a, 8b in their width direction so as to extend over the upper edges of the adjoining wall portions 4a, 4b and slightly protrude outward. Folded-down surfaces of these protrusions 9a, 9b are abutted against the upper edges of the wall portions 4a, 4b and ride on them. Due to this arrangement, even if the containers are transported or displayed at a store and the like while being stacked up, there occurs no possibility that any external force is applied to the stored confectionery 2 to cause itself to be crushed or deformed or the stored content in the confectionery 2 such as cream or the like is adhered to the packaging material 6 to deteriorate its outer appearance. TL;DR: In this article, a heat dissipating plate with the function of anti-EMI has been proposed to realize the two functions of heat dissipation and anti-emI at the same time.
Abstract: A heat dissipating plate with the function of anti-EMI has a plurality of heat dissipating holes which are orderly arranged into a heat dissipating hole array. The exterior margin of each heat dissipating hole extends to one side of the heat dissipating plate, thus forming a convex part. The convex part is a frustum structure formed by the outward impacting of the heat dissipating plate. The technic proposal can facilitate the heat dissipating plate to realize the two functions of heat dissipating and anti-EMI at the same time.

TL;DR: In this article, a 1D model with spherical and frustum geometry was used to simulate the behavior of radio frequency (RF) plasmas with unequal-sized electrodes and their results were compared with those of 2D models with Gaseous Electronic Conference cell structure.
Abstract: In computational study on RF(Radio Frequency) plasmas, a 1D fluid models with an advantage of a short computational time are often adopted. However, in order to obtain realistic calculation results under a typical chamber geometry with unequal-sized electrodes, modeling of the plasma space is an issue to be investigated. In this paper, it is focused on that how much a 1D model can approximate a 2D model. 1D fluid models with unequal-sized electrodes, which have spherical and frustum geometry systems, were developed and their results were compared with those of 2D model with Gaseous Electronic Conference cell structure. Behavior of RF plasmas has been simulated using 1D and 2D fluid models and a technique to take account of unequal-sized electrodes in a 1D fluid models has been examined. Features of the plasma density and the electric potential were discussed as characteristic quantities representing the asymmetry of the chamber geometry.
