TL;DR: The analysis showed that it is possible to detect the gender of a person with the use of the specified attributes and the research can be useful in any field where gender detection is needed.
Abstract: This study was designed to detect gender through writer's handwriting. The data set was formed through collecting 80 participants handwriting.133 attributes were tested with J48 and ID3 algorithms.Gender detection through handwriting reached 93.75% success rate. Today, graphology is seen as an experimental field of science that is dedicated to suggest ideas about diseases, profession choices, mood and characteristics of a person by investigating his/her handwriting. Graphology is in cooperation with medicine, psychology, sociology or other disciplines that are based on observation. Graphology is used for staff recruitment in business, diagnoses in medicine, identification of criminals in forensics, choosing a profession in education, guidance and counseling and other practices at every level of social structure. It is quite interesting that the number of the scientific studies on graphology is limited around the world, that there are no specific institutions providing education of graphology and that institutions except for a few international corporations do not benefit from graphology at all.In terms of demographic properties, many statistical and mathematical analyses investigate similar and different variables. Especially, differences regarding gender have become subject to research. Therefore, detecting gender through handwriting can give pace to research in other disciplines. Moreover, the research can be useful in any field where gender detection is needed. This study fulfills two objectives. The first one is to find out whether a writer can identify his/her own handwriting. The second objective is to detect the gender of a writer of a text with the help of graphology and computer sciences. The impact of the study is reflected in the fact that findings can be used in fields where gender detection is needed, and that the detection is done with the help of expert and intelligent systems. At the end of the study, gender detection was performed for the individuals by making use of 133 attributes. Then, a decision tree and lists of rules were created with some algorithms. The purpose was to detect the gender of the person by making a character analysis of the handwriting with the help of decision tree formation methods in data mining. The analysis showed that it is possible to detect the gender of a person with the use of the specified attributes. The study reached a success level of 93.75% with ID3 algorithm.

Abstract: Handwriting analysis is an approach to modeling human activities are to judge the human as a device with a large number of internal mental states which they have. The research builds on the observation that although human behaviors such as handwriting, speech, hand gestures and even American Sign Language. Handwriting work as an indicator, which indicates personality and behavior of humans, for example, recruitment, interviewing and selection, team-building, counseling, and career-planning. The need of human personality recognition is more important in the modern word. Through this human can simplify their jobs and they are able to solve typical problems. Handwriting analysis or Graphology both are the scientific scheme of identifying, recognizing and distinguish behavior over the movements and patterns inform with the handwriting. During the ancient Indian civilization, it (handwriting analysis) was very common to identify the human behavior. In Graphology, handwriting process is analyzed through structural graphic elements in which the order to derive information about the writer's personality.

TL;DR: This study uses some features of handwriting, i.e. left margin, right margin, size, and slant, to classify personality type using Back Propagation and Learning Vector Quantization method.
Abstract: Graphology is a study of representing personality based on handwriting. Individual’s handwriting is unique and has own feature that it can be analyzed to understand personality. Graphology is used in some fields such as staffing, determining interest and talent. Some researches in graphology using artificial intelligence have been studied before. However, most of the researches still used one handwriting feature and did not classify into personality type. In this study, using some features of handwriting, i.e. left margin, right margin, size, and slant to classify personality type. Personality is classified based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) using Back Propagation and Learning Vector Quantization method. The result shows that Learning Vector Quantization has better performance, with 90% accuracy, than Back Propagation, which has 82% accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, a study was conducted with the aim of developing previous studies that have successfully applied the science of graphology to analyze digital handwriting and characteristics of his personality through shape based feature extraction, which in the present study will be applied one method of psychological tests commonly used by psychologists to recognize human personality that is Enneagram.
Abstract: This research was conducted with the aim of developing previous studies that have successfully applied the science of graphology to analyze digital handwriting and characteristics of his personality through shape based feature extraction, which in the present study will be applied one method of psychological tests commonly used by psychologists to recognize human’s personality that is Enneagram. The Enneagram method in principle will classify the personality traits of a person into nine types through a series of questions, which then calculated the amount of the overall weight of the answer. Thickness is what will provide direction personality type, which will then be matched with the personality type of the result of the graphology analysis of the handwriting. Personality type of handwritten analysis results is processed based on the personality traits that are the result of the identification of a combination of four dominant form of handwriting through the software output of previous studies, that Slant (tilt writing), Size (font size), Baseline, and Breaks (respite each word). From the results of this research can be found there is a correlation between personality analysis based on the psychology science to the graphology science, which results matching personality types by 81.6% of 49 respondents data who successfully tested.

TL;DR: Emotional intelligence (EI) scores for acupuncture students appeared significantly higher than the reference norms for the general population, supporting the view of acupuncturists as likely to be – or to consider themselves as – more ‘touchy‐ feely’ than thinking types.
Abstract: Background. We have used multiple rating scales to assess moods in our research since 2011. Here we present the results of using a multiple NRS for mood, the NRS‐M, before and after electroacupuncture (EA) delivered by and to students in a classroom situation. With a variety of innovative secondary measures, we explore how the NRS‐M was scored, and also whether personality type, emotional intelligence and the helpfulness of prior acupuncture impacted on NRS‐ M scores and changes. Objectives. 1. To pilot primary measures of personality type, emotional intelligence (EI) and the helpfulness of prior acupuncture in a teaching situation; 2. To develop secondary measures to describe how the NRS‐M and EI scales are completed; 3. To provide descriptive statistics for these primary and secondary measures; 4. To investigate interactions between the primary and secondary measures; 5. To draw conclusions from the resulting findings. Methods. Respondents were recruited during six EA teaching sessions in the UK, attended as part of the requirement for a University degree qualification in acupuncture practice. The teaching sessions all followed a similar standard pattern, and respondents were not obliged to complete the scales. Ethics approval was granted under applications for related studies by the Health and Human Sciences Ethics Committee of the University of Hertfordshire, UK. Permission was also received from the course organisers and respondents themselves. Further information on the questionnaires and secondary measures used, together with their analysis, is provided online at http://www.qeeg.co.uk/electroacupuncture/. Results. Mood changes exhibited a ‘regression to the median’: ‘Positive’ moods tended to increase and ‘negative’ moods to decrease. Intuitive Jungian (Myers‐Briggs) types outnumbered Sensing types, and Feeling types outnumbered Thinking types, supporting the view of acupuncturists as likely to be – or to consider themselves as – more ‘touchy‐ feely’ than thinking types. In support of this, emotional intelligence (EI) scores for these acupuncture students appeared significantly higher than the reference norms for the general population. There were also differences in response between Introverts and Extraverts, and several dimensions of EI that can be considered as markers of self‐regulation were significantly more prominent for ‘good responders’ than ‘poor responders’. In addition, those who initially felt more ‘Gloomy’ were slightly more likely to position their X below the line when scoring their moods using the NRS, whereas EI Optimism tended to be higher in those scoring above the line. Conclusions. Many statistical tests were conducted to assess differences and associations between the primary and secondary measures used in this study, so at least some of these findings are likely to be the result of chance. They should therefore be treated with caution rather than embraced uncritically. Nevertheless, our results may be helpful when entering the uncharted waters of the question ‘Who responds well to acupuncture?’, our next major project. Similarly, this first known attempt to use Shannon entropy to analyse questionnaire results was disappointing, but could pave the way to investigating whether variability (uncertainty) in responses to self‐report instruments is in any way associated (positively) with more openness or awareness, or (negatively) with levels of stress or anxiety.

TL;DR: The analysis of handwriting has been studied for almost four hundred years as mentioned in this paper and it is applied when there are a ransom notes, signatures, letters and other bad things which are not found in common scenario.
Abstract: The analysis of handwriting has been studied for almost four hundred years. In 1622, the first person that carried out systematic and practical observations on the way of handwriting was Camillo Baldi. He published the book named ‘Treated how, by a letter missive, one recognizes the writer ́s nature and qualities’, which is considered the first known graphological essay in the world [1]. In 1897, the term “graphology” was coined by Abb JeanHippolyte Michon in Paris by combining two Greek words graphe in, to write and logos, science. He was the founder of The Society of Graphology and the first person to give scientific grounds to the handwriting analysis. The Michon ́s work was continued by one of his pupils, J. Crepieux-Jamin. He put of the order in Michon ́s work and divided the writing into 7basic elements: speed, pressure, form, dimension, continuity, direction, and order [2]. Handwriting analysis is an operation that has been carried out for decades to centuries. But its effectiveness when analyzing the behavior and personality traits of an individual is still a debate from old days [3]. Forensic graphology is the study of handwriting. It is unique meaning and has many things for the study. It is applied when there are a ransom notes, signatures, letters and other bad things which are not found in common scenario. Forensic document examination is requested in the event of a formal debunking of signatures fixed on contracts, in civil law cases, and in all those cases in which handwriting is applied in order to commit a crime for which it becomes necessary to identify the authorship/ ownership of a piece of handwriting, this same action obtruding criminal liability and responsibility [4].

TL;DR: In Italy, expertise in graphology constitutes the basis for handwriting expert examination as mentioned in this paper, however, most authors tend to adopt the view that they should be separated, maintaining that handwriting examination as a branch of forensic science concerned with forensic identification on the basis of handwriting distinctly differs from the theories identifying psychological features and personality traits of a person on a basis of his or her handwriting.
Abstract: In Italy expertise in graphology constitutes the basis for handwriting expert examination. In Poland handwriting examination is frequently equated with graphology1, both are interpreted as synonyms; therefore, forensic handwriting examination is popularly referred to as graphological examination2. However, most authors tend to adopt the view that they should be separated, maintaining that handwriting examination as a branch of forensic science concerned with forensic identification on the basis of handwriting distinctly differs from the theories identifying psychological features and personality traits of a person on the basis of his or her handwriting. Criticism of graphology emphasises the fact that

Abstract: This study attempts to examine ways of writing (handwriting) include: pen pressure, the character size, the distance between the rows, words and letters, the base line, stand line, punctuation of punctual letters, with introvert and extrovert personality, emotional stability- instability (neuroticism) and psychotic features associated with them and study the relationship between these variables using the Eysenck personality questionnaire (adult). The sample used in this study consists of 68 people among the members of community (Miyaneh city in Iran, regardless of their job and position) randomly including 36 women and 32 men. In this study Eysenck Tests questionnaire is used in the form of 90 questions. Chi-squared test results show that there is a significant relation with 99% confidence level between all studied variables in handwriting and the kind of personality characteristics. According to the results, personality of people couldn’t be realized based on just one variable and different variables of personality must taking into account in the handwriting judge. In general, it may be judged that (a) In society, number of people with unstable extrovert personality is more; (b) the amount of instable people is more than stable and (c) the number of extroverts is more than introverts.
