TL;DR: The dissipative part of the conductivity tensor in extremely pure superconductors at low temperatures has a peak at a frequency ω 2/E/sub F, due to the presence of bound states in the vortex cores as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: The anomalous bulk metallic phase of CuCl which has been reported by several workers to exist at pressures near 40 kbar is explained in terms of Guinier-Preston transitional precipitates consisting of a small amount of Cu obtained from the partially arrested disproportionation reaction as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The anomalous bulk metallic phase of CuCl which has been reported by several workers to exist at pressures near 40 kbar is explained in terms of Guinier-Preston transitional precipitates consisting of a small amount of Cu obtained from the partially arrested disproportionation reaction 2 CuCl → Cu + CuCl 2 . The absence of superconductivity in bulk Cu suggests that reports of large diamagnetic susceptibilities near 100–250 K in the metallic phase may be of doubtful validity.

TL;DR: In this article, high pressure experiments in a hydrostatic environment testing these models are reviewed and discussed, and new data on single crystalline V3Si and polycrystalline Nb3Sn1-xYx(Y = Al and Sb) are also included.
Abstract: It is known that high temperature superconductors are unstable, Different models have been proposed to explain the high temperature superconductivity and instabilities. High pressure experiments in a hydrostatic environment testing these models are reviewed and discussed. New data on single crystalline V3Si and polycrystalline Nb3Sn1-xYx(Y = Al and Sb) are also included. Although no unique picture emerges at the present time, existing high pressure results tend to lend support to the electron model emphasizing the roles of electrons. Further experiments are proposed and planned for better understanding of the origin of high temperature superconductivity and instabilities, and their correlation.
