Journal ArticleDOI

Lower-Hybrid Current Drive in the PLT Tokamak

TL;DR: The principal current carrier appears to be a high energy (approx 100 keV) electron component, concentrated in the central 20 to 40 cm diameter core of the 80 cm discharge as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fusion power production from TFTR plasmas fueled with deuterium and tritium

J. D. Strachan, +135 more
TL;DR: The measured loss rate of energetic alpha particles agreed with the approximately 5% losses expected from alpha particles which are born on unconfined orbits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Confinement and heating of a deuterium-tritium plasma.

R. J. Hawryluk, +135 more
TL;DR: Improvements in confinement associated with the use of tritium and possibly heating of electrons by α-particles are indicated.
Book ChapterDOI

Lower hybrid heating and current drive on PLT

TL;DR: In this article, an array of six waveguides was used to launch a waveguide array for the current-drive mechanism in the electron cyclotron, and the radial profile of the rf-sustained current inferred from x-ray measurements is peaked in the center of the plasma and appears to obey the same q-value restraints as the inductively driven ohmic heating current.
