Journal ArticleDOI

Modeled global invasive potential of Asian gypsy moths, Lymantria dispar

TL;DR: It is demonstrated statistically significant predictivity of distributional patterns within the East Asian range of these populations, and a likely potential invasive distribution of this set of populations across the temperate zone of both Northern and Southern Hemisphere is characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potential geography and productivity of “Hass” avocado crops in Colombia estimated by ecological niche modeling

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an ENM for Hass avocado production fields in Colombia, in which they related the distribution of avocado production lots to environmental information derived from multitemporal MODIS satellite imagery and digital elevation models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Knowledge behind conservation status decisions: Data basis for “Data Deficient” Brazilian plant species

TL;DR: Evaluating these species in terms of completeness of geographic range knowledge accumulated through time, results show that at least 40.9% of species listed as Data Deficient do not appear genuinely to be particularly lacking in data, but rather may be knowledge-deficient, which may be useful in identifying cases in which data are genuinely lacking regarding conservation status of species.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Chimalapas Region, Oaxaca, Mexico: a high-priority region for bird conservation in Mesoamerica

TL;DR: The Chimalapas avifauna is by far the most diverse for any region of comparable size in the country, totalling at least 464 species in the region as a whole, representing 44% of the bird species known from Mexico.
