Journal ArticleDOI

Diversification of the arboreal mice of the genus Habromys (Rodentia: Cricetidae: Neotominae) in the Mesoamerican highlands.

TL;DR: Species-level phylogenetic relationships among the seven described Habromys species using 1331 aligned bases from the mitochondrial ND3 and ND4 regions suggest that H. simulatus and H. lophurus are each composed by two different taxa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Speciation genomics and a role for the Z chromosome in the early stages of divergence between Mexican ducks and mallards

TL;DR: It is concluded that between mallards and Mexican ducks, divergence at autosomal markers is largely neutral, whereas greater divergence on the Z chromosome is likely the product of selection that has been important in speciation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bird faunas of the humid montane forests of Mesoamerica: biogeographic patterns and priorities for conservation

TL;DR: In this article, the distribution of 335 species of birds in 33 islands of humid montane forest in Mesoamerica is summarized, and patterns of distribution, diversity and endemism are analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identifying biases at different spatial and temporal scales of diversification: a case study in the Neotropical parrotlet genus Forpus

TL;DR: The robustness of diversification patterns in the avian genus Forpus is examined by testing whether the use of different units of biodiversity impacted diversification rates and inferences regarding important biogeographic breaks in the genus, and indicates that conflicting models on the temporal origins of Neotropical birds may be attributable to sampling biases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Local origin and diversification among Lampornis hummingbirds: a Mesoamerican taxon.

TL;DR: The phylogenetic relationships within a Mesoamerican group of hummingbirds (Lampornis) are assessed and the results indicate that the genus Lampornis predates the uprising of the Panama land-bridge, and that diversification among the isthmian species is a very recent event.
