Journal ArticleDOI
The template of the primary lymphatic landing sites of the prostate should be revisited: results of a multimodality mapping study.
Agostino Mattei,Frank G. Fuechsel,Nivedita Dhar,Sebastian Warncke,George N. Thalmann,Thomas Krause,Urs E. Studer +6 more
TL;DR: The multimodality technique presented here enables precise mapping of the primary prostatic lymphatic landing sites and suggests that PLND for prostate cancer should include not only the external and obturator regions as well as the portions medial and lateral to the internal iliac vessels, but also the common iliAC LNs at least up to the ureteric crossing.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Nomogram to Identify Candidates for Extended Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection Among Patients with Clinically Localized Prostate Cancer Diagnosed with Magnetic Resonance Imaging-targeted and Systematic Biopsies
Giorgio Gandaglia,Guillaume Ploussard,Massimo Valerio,Agostino Mattei,Cristian Fiori,Nicola Fossati,Armando Stabile,Jean Baptiste Beauval,Bernard Malavaud,Mathieu Roumiguié,Daniele Robesti,Paolo Dell'Oglio,Marco Moschini,Stefania Zamboni,Arnas Rakauskas,Francesco De Cobelli,Francesco Porpiglia,Francesco Montorsi,Alberto Briganti +18 more
TL;DR: The first nomogram to predict lymph node invasion (LNI) in prostate cancer patients diagnosed via magnetic resonance imaging-targeted biopsy undergoing radical prostatectomy is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Prospective Trial Comparing Consecutive Series of Open Retropubic and Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy in a Centre with a Limited Caseload
Giovanni Battista Di Pierro,Philipp Baumeister,Patrick Stucki,Josef Beatrice,Hansjörg Danuser,Agostino Mattei +5 more
TL;DR: Despite a limited caseload and including the learning curve, RALP offers slightly better results than RRP in terms of PSM, major complications, urinary continence, and erectile function.
Journal ArticleDOI
To Stent or Not to Stent Perioperatively the Ureteroileal Anastomosis of Ileal Orthotopic Bladder Substitutes and Ileal Conduits? Results of a Prospective Randomized Trial
TL;DR: Stenting of the ureteroileal anastomosis allows for significantly less frequent incidence of early postoperative dilatation of the pelvicaliceal system, bowel activity resumes significantly earlier and metabolic acidosis is significantly more frequent.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Role of Radical Prostatectomy and Lymph Node Dissection in Lymph Node–Positive Prostate Cancer: A Systematic Review of the Literature
Georgios Gakis,Stephen A. Boorjian,Alberto Briganti,Steven Joniau,Guram Karazanashvili,R. Jeffrey Karnes,Agostino Mattei,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Arnulf Stenzl,Manfred P. Wirth,Christian G. Stief +10 more
TL;DR: Increasing evidence suggests that RP and extended PLND improve survival in LN-positive PCa, and the former practice of aborting surgery in the presence of positive nodes might no longer be supported by current evidence.
