Journal ArticleDOI
PVT1 Signaling Is a Mediator of Cancer Progression.
TL;DR: Overall, the trend suggests a negative correlation of microRNA expression with PVT1, which indicates valuable insight into the yet unknown mechanisms of PVTI-mediated cancer progression via microRNA-dependent signaling networks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long Noncoding RNA from PVT1 Exon 9 Is Overexpressed in Prostate Cancer and Induces Malignant Transformation and Castration Resistance in Prostate Epithelial Cells.
Gargi Pal,Jeannette Huaman,Fayola Levine,Akintunde T. Orunmuyi,E Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa,Onayemi Titilayo Onagoruwa,Olorunseun O. Ogunwobi,Olorunseun O. Ogunwobi +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that PVT1 exon 9 is significantly overexpressed in PCa tissues in comparison to normal prostate tissues, and holds promise as a therapeutic target inPCa.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Custom Genotyping Array Reveals Population-Level Heterogeneity for the Genetic Risks of Prostate Cancer and Other Cancers in Africa.
Maxine Harlemon,Maxine Harlemon,Olabode Ajayi,Paidamoyo Kachambwa,Michelle S Kim,Corinne N. Simonti,Melanie H. Quiver,Desiree C. Petersen,Anuradha Mittal,Pedro L. Fernández,Ann W. Hsing,Shakuntala Baichoo,Ilir Agalliu,Mohamed Jalloh,Serigne M. Gueye,Nana Yaa Snyper,Ben Adusei,James E. Mensah,Afua O. D Abrahams,Akindele Olupelumi Adebiyi,Akintunde T. Orunmuyi,Oseremen I. Woehrmann,Peng Zhang,Chrissie M. Ongaco,Michelle Mawhinney,Jo McBride,Caroline Andrews,Marcia Adams,Elizabeth W. Pugh,Timothy R. Rebbeck,Lindsay Petersen,Joseph Lachance +42 more
TL;DR: Individual and population-level differences in prostate cancer risk were revealed using a novel genotyping array and cancer-associated loci that have large allele frequency differences across African populations were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Underutilisation of nuclear medicine scans at a regional hospital in Nigeria: need for implementation research.
Akintunde T. Orunmuyi,Ismaheel O. Lawal,Omonefe O. Omofuma,Olalekan John Taiwo,Mike Sathekge +4 more
TL;DR: The pattern of nuclear medicine imaging services at the first nuclear medicine centre in Nigeria from January 2010 to December 2018 appears underutilised, and the studies to characterise the access gaps and implementation needs will contribute to the design of practical strategies to strengthen NM services.
Journal ArticleDOI
Population Differentiation at the PVT1 Gene Locus: Implications for Prostate Cancer.
Gargi Pal,Lia Di,Akintunde T. Orunmuyi,E Oluwabunmi Olapade-Olaopa,Wei-Gang Qiu,Olorunseun O. Ogunwobi,Olorunseun O. Ogunwobi +6 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that PVT1 exons 4A and 4B may have clinical implications in PCa, a conclusion supported by the observation that transient and stable overexpression of PVT2 exons 3A and 3B significantly induce greater prostate epithelial cell migration and proliferation.
