Core Components of the Nuclear Pore Bind Distinct States of Chromatin and Contribute to Polycomb Repression.
Alejandro Gozalo,Ashley A. Duke,Yemin Lan,Pau Pascual-Garcia,Jessica A. Talamas,Son C. Nguyen,Parisha P. Shah,Rajan Jain,Eric F. Joyce,Maya Capelson +9 more
TL;DR: This investigation uncovered differential binding of these NPC subunits, where Nup107 preferentially targets active genes while Nup93 associates primarily with Polycomb-silenced regions, and lend to a model where different nuclear pores bind different types of chromatin via interactions with specific NPC sub-complexes, and a subset of Polycomb domains is stabilized by interactions with N up93.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromatin targeting of nuclear pore proteins induces chromatin decondensation
TL;DR: Kuhn et al. show that nuclear pore components Sec13 and Elys promote an open chromatin state, which can affect downstream gene expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
A New Path through the Nuclear Pore
Alejandro Gozalo,Maya Capelson +1 more
TL;DR: A high-resolution structure of the cytoplasmic nuclear pore-mRNA export holo-complex is presented, challenging the textbook depiction of this massive membrane-embedded complex.
