Journal ArticleDOI

Quantum well solar cells

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential advantages of quantum wells for enhancing solar cell efficiency were discussed and theoretical and experimental studies were conducted to determine the quasi-Fermi level separation in quantum wells inside a p-i-n system in order to understand the voltage behaviour of QWSCs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Voltage enhancement in quantum well solar cells

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report measurements of the dark-current and open-circuit voltage of a number of quantum well cells in three different lattice matched material systems, namely, Al0.35Ga0.65As/GaAs, GaInP/GaA, and InP/InGaAs.
Journal ArticleDOI

A carrier escape study from InP/InGaAs single quantum well solar cells

TL;DR: In this article, the activation energy for carrier escape from InP/AlGaAs single quantum well structures was measured by means of simultaneous steady state photocurrent and photoluminescence measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

The application of quantum well solar cells to thermophotovoltaics

TL;DR: In this paper, the advantages of quantum well solar cells (QWSCs) for thermophotovoltaic (TPV) applications were discussed and illustrated with InP/InGaAs and GaInAsP/inGaAs QWSC.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A new approach to p-doping and the observation of efficiency enhancement in InP/InGaAs quantum well solar cells

TL;DR: In this article, lattice matched InP/In/sub x/Ga/sub 1-x/As multiple quantum well solar cells (QWSCs) are used, which allows the dopant to diffuse from a highly doped InGaAs cap into an underlying InP layer which has no deliberate doping.
