Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic liquid crystal state in the high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O6.45.

TL;DR: The spontaneous onset of a one-dimensional, incommensurate modulation of the spin system in the high-transition-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O6 suggests that soft spin fluctuations are a microscopic route toward electronic liquid crystals and that nematic order can coexist with high-tem temperature superconductivity in underdoped cuprates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neutron Scattering from Magnetic Excitations in Bi_2 Sr_2 Ca_2 O_8+delta

TL;DR: In this paper, a magnetic resonance peak in the superconducting state of a different copper oxide system, Bi_2 Sr_2 Ca Cu_2 O(8+δ) was found.
Journal ArticleDOI

The spin excitation spectrum in superconducting YBa(2)Cu(3)O(6.85)

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive inelastic neutron scattering study of magnetic excitations in the near optimally doped high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O6.85 is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two-dimensional geometry of spin excitations in the high-transition-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O6+x.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the geometry of the magnetic fluctuations is two-dimensional, and Rigid stripe arrays appear to be ruled out over a wide range of doping levels in YBa2Cu3O6+x, but the data may be consistent with liquid-crystalline stripe order.
Journal ArticleDOI

Higgs mode and its decay in a two-dimensional antiferromagnet

TL;DR: In this paper, a spin-polarized inelastic neutron scattering study of two-dimensional antiferromagnet Ca2RuO4 has been conducted, which reveals evidence for a condensed-matter analogue of the Higgs mode, and its subsequent decay into transverse Goldstone modes.
