Journal ArticleDOI

Systematic review and meta-analysis of the association between childhood overweight and obesity and primary school diet and physical activity policies.

TL;DR: The evidence suggests that, when implemented alone, school diet and physical activity related policies appear insufficient to prevent or treat overweight or obesity in children, however, they do appear to have an effect when developed and implemented as part of a more extensive intervention programme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Common genetic variation in the gene encoding interleukin-1-receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) is associated with altered circulating IL-1RA levels.

TL;DR: Genotyped seven single nucleotide polymorphisms that capture a large proportion of common genetic variation in the IL-1RN gene and found suggestive evidence that the C allele at rs4251961 that lowers IL- 1RA levels is associated with an increasedIL-1β level and may also be associated with interferon -γ level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of the diabetes linked TCF7L2 polymorphism in a representative older population

TL;DR: The TCF7L2 rs7903146 polymorphism is associated with lower insulin levels, smaller waist circumference, and lower risk lipid profiles in the general elderly population, and may have implications for developing treatment approaches tailored by genotype.
