Glucocorticoid receptors and in vitro responses to glucocorticoid in acute nonlymphocytic leukemia.
Gerald R. Crabtree,Clara D. Bloomfield,Kendall A. Smith,Robert W. McKenna,Bruce A. Peterson,Laurie Hildebrandt,Allan Munck +6 more
TL;DR: A broad range of in vitro responses and receptor levels suggests that these studies might be useful in identifying those patients with ANLL likely to derive benefit from steroid therapy.
Journal Article
Analysis of activated and nonactivated cytoplasmic glucocorticoid-receptor complexes from human leukemia cells by rapid DNA-diethylaminoethyl minicolumn chromatography.
TL;DR: A rapid minicolumn chromatographic procedure for separating glucocorticoid-receptor complexes in cytoplasm from normal lymphoid cells incubated with [3H]dexamethasone is developed and applied to examine the relative proportion of different complexes in cytosols from cells of leukemia patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Concanavalin A-induced glucocorticoid resistance in rat thymus cells: decreased cytoplasmic and nuclear receptor binding of dexamethasone.
John A. Cidlowski,Allan Munck +1 more
TL;DR: Concanavalin A reduces the number of thymocyte glucocortocoid receptors without altering the affinity of the r, and at all concentrations tested, Con A did not affect binding of dexamethasone to isolated cytoplasmic glucOCorticoid receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glucocorticoid actions on the immune system: Inhibition of production of an Fc-receptor augmenting factor
TL;DR: It is shown that glucocorticoids in vitro reduce the number of FcR sites on the promyelocytic cell line HL-60, and observations are extended to the macrophage-like U-937 cell line, where dexamethasone can completely suppress production, with a half-maximal effect at about 5 nM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term incubation of rat thymus cells: Cytolytic actions of glucocorticoids in vitro.
Kiu Leung,Allan Munck +1 more
TL;DR: A system has been developed for long-term incubation of rat thymus cells in sus pension in a chemically defined medium consisting of medium 199 and methylcellulsoe to study quantitatively the full time-course of glucocorticoid actions, from the early inhibitory effects on glucose uptake to the slow cytolytic effects.
