Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation and Metabolic Significance of De Novo Lipogenesis in Adipose Tissues
TL;DR: This review will update the current knowledge of DNL in white and brown adipose tissues with the focus on transcriptional, post-translational, and central regulation of D NL.
Journal ArticleDOI
CDK8-Cyclin C Mediates Nutritional Regulation of Developmental Transitions through the Ecdysone Receptor in Drosophila.
Xiao-Jun Xie,Fu-Ning Hsu,Xinsheng Gao,Wu Xu,Jian-Quan Ni,Yue Xing,Liying Huang,Hao Ching Hsiao,Haiyan Zheng,Chenguang Wang,Yani Zheng,Alus M. Xiaoli,Fajun Yang,Sarah E. Bondos,Jun-Yuan Ji +14 more
TL;DR: It is shown that EcR-dependent transcription, and thus, developmental timing in Drosophila, is regulated byCDK8 and its regulatory partner Cyclin C (CycC), and the level of CDK8 is affected by nutrient availability, which suggests that CDK 8-CyccC links nutrient intake to developmental transitions (EcR activity) and fat metabolism during the larval–pupal transition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of Lipogenic Gene Expression by Lysine-specific Histone Demethylase-1 (LSD1)
Arian Abdulla,Yi Zhang,Fu-Ning Hsu,Alus M. Xiaoli,Xiaoping Zhao,Ellen S.T. Yang,Jun-Yuan Ji,Fajun Yang +7 more
TL;DR: Results show that LSD1 plays a role in regulating lipogenic gene expression, suggesting LSD1 as a potential target for treating dysregulation of lipid metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
mTORC1 Down-Regulates Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 8 (CDK8) and Cyclin C (CycC)
Daorong Feng,Dou Yeon Youn,Xiaoping Zhao,Yanguang Gao,William J. Quinn,Alus M. Xiaoli,Yan Sun,Morris J. Birnbaum,Jeffrey E. Pessin,Fajun Yang +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that mTORC1 activation in NAFLD and insulin resistance results in down-regulation of the CDK8-CycC complex and elevation of lipogenic protein expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of metabolism by the Mediator complex.
TL;DR: Some of the reported functions of selective Mediator subunits in the regulation of metabolism suggest that the Mediator complex may be an important player in nutrient sensing and energy balance in mammals.
