Journal ArticleDOI

Release and antibacterial action of phenolic acids incorporated into PHBV films

TL;DR: Ferulic or p-coumaric acids were incorporated into PHBV films by melt processing or surface anchoring (3, 6 or 9%), and the release kinetics of phenolics and the films' antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli and Listeria innocua were analysed as discussed by the authors .
Book ChapterDOI

Salt Crystallization in Chitosan Films as Affected by Solvent pH and Moisture Content

TL;DR: Sorlier et al. as mentioned in this paper used chitosan as a cationic biopolymer used as a matrix to develop edible films and coatings for food applications, which can cause changes in the solvent properties (pH and ionic strength) affecting the structure and properties of the obtained films.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of the cellulose purification process on the properties of aerogels obtained from rice straw.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors obtained cellulose aerogels from purified rice straw cellulose fibres (CF) by applying different extraction methods: the conventional alkaline treatment (ALK) and alternative aqueous extraction based on the ultrasound combined with reflux heating (USHT) and subcritical water extraction (SWE) (160 and 180 °C).
