Journal ArticleDOI

Immobilized lipase‐catalysed production of alkyl esters of restaurant grease as biodiesel

TL;DR: Simple alkyl ester derivatives of restaurant grease were prepared using immobilized lipases as biocatalysts and IM PS‐30 was found to be the most effective in catalysing the methanolysis and ethanolysis of grease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production of alkyl esters from tallow and grease using lipase immobilized in a phyllosilicate sol-gel

TL;DR: The matrix-immobilized PS-30 lipase effectively converted grease and tallow to ethyl esters in greater than 95% yield when using ethanol, and is potentially useful for the economic production of biodiesel fuel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immobilization of Pseudomonas cepacia lipase in a phyllosilicate sol–gel matrix: effectiveness as a biocatalyst

TL;DR: Studies on the lipase‐catalysed esterification of lauric acid with octan‐1‐ol in iso‐octane showed that under controlled water activity conditions the phyllosilicate sol–gel‐immobilized lipase had better activity compared with other supported lipase preparations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetic Analysis of Proton Transport by the Vanadate-Sensitive ATPase from Maize Root Microsomes

TL;DR: After establishing the steady state proton gradient, the rate of return of transported protons was found to obey first-order kinetics when the activity of the ATPase was completely and rapidly stopped.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization of alkyl ester production from grease using a phyllosilicate sol-gel immobilized lipase.

TL;DR: Simple alkyl ester derivatives of restaurant grease were prepared using a lipase from Pseudomonoas cepacia immobilized within a phyllosilicate sol-gel matrix as biocatalyst to carry out alcoholysis reactions of grease using a one-step addition of alcohol to the reaction mixture.
