Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Blame on them, shame on us: combining affective and normative behaviour in intelligent virtual agents

Several agent-based frameworks have been proposed to investigate the possible reasons that lead humans to act in the interest of others while giving up individual gains. In this paper we propose a novel framework for analyzing this phenomenon based on the notions of social importance and local discrimination. We propose a ``Favors Game'', where a recipient agent can ``claim'' a favor to a donor agent, which may in turn ``confer'' its request at the expense of a certain cost. The proposed framework allows us to study the conditions under which cooperation occurs and the dynamics of the relationships formed within a population.

The "Favors Game": A Framework to Study the Emergence of Cooperation through Social Importance

The significance of software testing cannot be overstated, as its poor implementation often leads to problematic and faulty software applications. This problem comes from a mismatch in the required industry skills, the learning requirements of students, and the current teaching methodology for testing in higher and vocational education institutes. This project aims to create seamless teaching materials for testing education that is in line with industry standards and learning needs. Considering the diverse socioeconomic environment that will benefit from this project, a consortium of partners ranging from universities to small businesses has been assembled. The project starts with research into sense-making and cognitive models for learning and doing testing. Additionally, a study will be conducted to identify the training and knowledge transfer requirements for testing within the industry. Based on the research findings and study outcomes, teaching capsules for software testing will be developed, taking into account the cognitive models of students and the needs of the industry. After the effectiveness validation of these capsules, these capsules and the instructional material will be available to other researchers and professors to improve testing education.

A serious game for teaching conflict resolution to children

O presente estudo constrói uma análise crítica sobre o desenvolvimento da acuidade auditiva e os seus efeitos ao longo do processo evolutivo humano. Desse modo, foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória com o intuito de formular uma síntese de informações sobre o eixo temático, apoiando-se na busca das literaturas. Para tanto, utilizou-se do método de pesquisa bibliográfica sistemática, tendo o auxílio da ferramenta de busca das bases de dados: U. S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Scielo e Google acadêmico, dispondo-se do uso de revisões sistemáticas, artigos públicos completos e na língua portuguesa. Assim, o objetivo da obra se concentra na descrição, análise e reflexão sobre a importância de se ter a percepção auditiva ao longo da história das espécies, mais especificamente dos seres humanos. No ato da pesquisa, foi notório a escassez de artigos que abordam a evolução da audição e sua relação à aspectos primordiais no homem como no equilíbrio e postura. Por fim, mediante a observação do conteúdo investigado, o estudo indicou que o desenvolvimento das especificidades dos sentidos, em especial do ouvido, possibilitou a edificação do meio cívico contemporâneo, devido à sua capacidade em proporcionar o avanço do senso de orientação e de consciência em nível individual e grupal.
