TL;DR: In severely obese patients with type 2 diabetes, bariatric surgery resulted in better glucose control than did medical therapy and preoperative BMI and weight loss did not predict the improvement in hyperglycemia after these procedures.

TL;DR: Surgery is more effective than medical treatment for the long-term control of obese patients with type 2 diabetes and should be considered in the treatment algorithm of this disease, however, continued monitoring of glycaemic control is warranted because of potential relapse of hyperglycaemia.

Nasal high-flow versus Venturi mask oxygen therapy after extubation. Effects on oxygenation, comfort, and clinical outcome

TL;DR: Compared with the Venturi mask, NHF results in better oxygenation for the same set FiO2 after extubation, and use of NHF is associated with better comfort, fewer desaturations and interface displacements, and a lower reintubation rate.
