Although homogeneous gold catalysis was known previously, an exponential growth was only induced 12 years ago. The key findings which induce that rise of the field are discussed. This includes early reactions of allenes and furanynes and intermediates of these conversions as well as hydroarylation reactions. Other substrate types addressed are alkynyl epoxides and N-propargyl carboxamides. Important vinylgold intermediates, the transmetalation from gold to other transition metals, the development of new ligands for gold catalysis, and significant contributions from computational chemistry are other crucial points for the field highlighted here.

Gold-Catalyzed Organic Reactions

This critical review presents a comprehensive study of transition-metal carboxylate clusters which may serve as secondary building units (SBUs) towards construction and synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). We describe the geometries of 131 SBUs, their connectivity and composition. This contribution presents a comprehensive list of the wide variety of transition-metal carboxylate clusters which may serve as secondary building units (SBUs) in the construction and synthesis of metal–organic frameworks. The SBUs discussed here were obtained from a search of molecules and extended structures archived in the Cambridge Structure Database (CSD, version 5.28, January 2007) which included only crystals containing metal carboxylate linkages (241 references).

Colorless single crystals of (NH4)2CO3·H2O2 (I) and Cs2CO3·3H2O2 (II) are prepared by cooling saturated solutions of (NH4)(COONH2) or Cs2CO3 in 98% H2O2 from room temperature to -18 °C.

Ammonium and Caesium Carbonate Peroxosolvates: Supramolecular Networks Formed by Hydrogen Bonds.

Cadmium compound [Cd(CF3COO)2(Ph3P)2] is synthesized, and its crystal structure is determined. The crystals are monoclinic: space group C2/c, a = 20.318(4), b = 10.432(2), c = 18.661(4) A, β = 104.18(1)°, V = 3834.8(13) A3, Z = 4, ρcalcd = 1.495 g/cm3. The Cd atom arranged on the 2-fold crystallographic axis has a distorted octahedral coordination due to four oxygen atoms of crystallographically equivalent trifluoroacetate ligands and two phosphorus atoms of triphenylphosphine. Each fluorine atom of the trifluoroacetate groups is randomly disordered over three equally probable positions. The compound is luminescent.

Tetrapyridineplatinum(II) Carboxylates: Synthesis and Crystal Structure

A series of methyl and allyl derivatives of ansa-titano- and ansa-zirconocenes with isopropylidene or dimethylsilyl bridging groups were synthesized. A dinuclear complex, [Me2C(C5H4)2]2Ti2O2, resulting from the thermal decomposition of the corresponding dimethyl derivative of ansa-titanocene in the air, was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Synthesis and properties of ansa-titano- and ansa-zirconocenes

Twelve new d-metal complexes with 5-[(4-nitrophenyl)hydrazo]pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione (HL1) and 4-methyl-5-[4-nitrophenylhydrazo]-2,6-dioxo-1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyridine-3-carbonitryl (HL2) have been synthesized and separated out in the crystalline state. The crystal and molecular structures of HL1 have been solved by X-ray diffraction analysis. The organic molecule exists in the crystalline state as a planar hydrazo tautomer stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Metal coordination is bidentate chelate. The acid-base equilibria and complexation of the ligands in solutions have been studied, and the complexation constants have been found.
