Impacts of climate change on marine organisms and ecosystems.

TL;DR: Present-day climate change is described, setting it in context with historical change, consequences of climate change for marine biological processes now and in to the future are considered, and contributions that marine systems could play in mitigating the impacts of global climate change are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Jellyfish overtake fish in a heavily fished ecosystem.

TL;DR: The main thrust or conclusion of this paper is that jellyfish biomass in the Benguela now exceeds that of once prolific finfish, because the recent estimates of fish and jelly fish biomass are from the own observations and not the interpretation of FAO data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antarctic Krill Under Sea Ice: Elevated Abundance in a Narrow Band Just South of Ice Edge

TL;DR: Autosub-2 enabled us to make continuous high-resolution measurements of krill density under ice reaching 27 kilometers beyond the ice edge, and krill densities were fivefold greater than that of open water.

Marine Ecology: Processes, Systems, and Impacts

TL;DR: Marine Ecology: Processes, Systems, and Impacts as discussed by the authors offers a carefully balanced and stimulating survey of marine ecology, introducing the key processes and systems from which the marine environment is formed, and the issues and challenges which surround its future conservation.
