Tartaglini,Eugenio Duprè,Carlo Blasi,Graziano Rossi +35 more
TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive extinction assessment for endemic vascular plants under the full responsibility of a single country is presented, which would provide an important step towards the prioritization and conservation of threatened endemic flora at Italian, European, and Mediterranean level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Red list of threatened vascular plants in Italy
Simone Orsenigo,Giuseppe Fenu,Domenico Gargano,Chiara Montagnani,Thomas Abeli,A. Wagensommer,N. Tartaglini,Eugenio Duprè,Carlo Blasi,Graziano Rossi +28 more
TL;DR: In recent years, there is an increased awareness of the crucial role of plants in ecosystem functioning and in providing ecos... as mentioned in this paper, which is the case in many parts of the world.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photoinhibition of seed germination: occurrence, ecology and phylogeny
TL;DR: Results clearly indicate that PISG is a physiological adaptation to avoid germination on the soil surface, where conditions are not suitable for seedling establishment.
Journal ArticleDOI
A deep dive into the ancestral chromosome number and genome size of flowering plants
TL;DR: No evidence exists for a clear link between ancestral chromosome numbers and ancient polyploidization events, suggesting that further insights are needed to elucidate the organization of genome packaging into chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative seed dormancy and germination of eight annual species of ephemeral wetland vegetation in a Mediterranean climate
TL;DR: It is concluded that EWV species are adapted to the irregular presence of water with characteristics that are typical of neither truly aquatic nor wetland plants and showed a more plastic germination response based on alternating and constant temperature sensitivity and a low proportion of dormant seeds.
