Proceedings ArticleDOI
Fabrication of optical ring resonators in silicon on insulator
W. R. Headley,Graham T. Reed,Ansheng Liu,Oded Cohen,Dani Hak,Mario J. Paniccia,Simon Howe,Inga Huille +7 more
TL;DR: Laterally coupled racetrack resonators utilising rib waveguides have been fabricated and preliminary results are discussed in this paper, where an extinction ratio of 15.9 dB and a finesse of 11 have been measured.
Journal ArticleDOI
First Demonstration of an O-Band Coherent Link for Intra-Data Center Applications
Aaron P. Maharry,Junqian Liu,Stephen M. Misak,Hector Andrade,Luis A. Valenzuela,Giovanni Gilardi,Sean Liao,Ansheng Liu,Y.A. Akulova,Larry A. Coldren,James F. Buckwalter,Clint L. Schow +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report two first-of-a-kind achievements for integrated O-band coherent subsystems: a full coherent link at 112 Gbps (56 Gbaud QPSK) with 2.1•10−4 measured BER, and a record baud rate 128 Gbps(64 Gbabaqqqk) transmitter.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Optical characterization of 1-GHz silicon-based optical modulator
Richard Jones,Ling Liao,Ansheng Liu,M. Salib,Doron Rubin,Oded Cohen,Dean A. Samara-Rubio,Mario J. Paniccia +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a metaloxide-silicon (MOS) capacitor-based, high speed, silicon optical modulator is presented by using a capacitor based rather than the conventional p-i-n junction based architecture to modulate the free carrier density inside the waveguide.
Book ChapterDOI
Passive Silicon Photonic Devices
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe some selected devices such as waveguide bends, directional couplers, multi-mode interference coupler, Y-junctions, Mach-Zehnder interferometers, Bragg gratings, Fabry-Perot resonators, and ring resonators.
