Bocar Baya,Chad J. Achenbach,Bourahima Kone,Yacouba Toloba,Djeneba Dabitao,Bassirou Diarra,D Goita,Seydou Diabate,Mamoudou Maiga,Dianguina Soumaré,Khadidia Ouattara,T. Akanbi,Michael Belson,Sounkalo Dao,Susan Orsega,Sophia Siddiqui,Seydou Doumbia,Robert L. Murphy,Souleymane Diallo +27 more
TL;DR: Several risk factors are identified that could be used to identify MDR-TB suspects and prioritize them for laboratory confirmation and Prospective studies are needed to understand factors associated with TB incidence and clinical outcomes of TB treatment and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mycobacterium africanum (Lineage 6) shows slower sputum smear conversion on tuberculosis treatment than Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Lineage 4) in Bamako, Mali.
Bassirou Diarra,Mahamadou Kone,Antieme Combo Georges Togo,Yeya dit Sadio Sarro,A. B. Cisse,Amadou Somboro,Boureima Degoga,Mohamed Tolofoudie,Bourahima Kone,Moumine Sanogo,Bocar Baya,Ousmane Kodio,Mamoudou Maiga,Michael Belson,Susan Orsega,Meryam Krit,Sounkalo Dao,Ibrahim Maiga,Robert L. Murphy,Leen Rigouts,Seydou Doumbia,Souleymane Diallo,Bouke C. de Jong +22 more
TL;DR: It is found that patients diseased with modern M. tuberculosis complex L4 respond faster to TB treatment than those with M. africanum L6, and HIV negative status, higher BMI at day 0, and patients with smear grade at baseline ≤ 1+ were associated with earlier smear conversion.
Journal ArticleDOI
The most frequent Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex families in mali (2006-2016) based on spoligotyping.
Antieme Combo Georges Togo,Ousmane Kodio,Bassirou Diarra,Moumine Sanogo,Gagni Coulibaly,Sidy Bane,Fatimata Diallo,Anou M. Somboro,A. B. Cisse,Bocar Baya,D Goita,Seydou Diabate,Bourahima Kone,Yeya dit Sadio Sarro,Mamoudou Maiga,Yacouba Toloba,Michael Belson,Susan Orsega,Sounkalo Dao,Robert L. Murphy,Sophia Siddiqui,Seydou Doumbia,Souleymane Diallo +22 more
TL;DR: This study showed a high genetic diversity of strains isolated in Bamako region and highlights that M. tuberculosis T1 strain was the most prevalent, indicating an increasing proportion of primary drug resistance overtime in Bamko.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The SEREFO Laboratory was instrumental in the success of Mali's Ebola response by providing timely and accurate diagnostics and has tested 103 samples from 88 suspected cases, 10 of which were EBOV positive, since the Ebola diagnostics unit started in April 2014.
Journal ArticleDOI
Competitive fitness of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro
Ousmane Kodio,Antieme Combo Georges Togo,Yeya dit Sadio Sarro,Bintou Fane,Fatimata Diallo,Amadou Somboro,Boureima Degoga,Mahamadou Kone,Gagni Coulibaly,Mohamed Tolofoudje,Sidy Bane,Moumine Sanogo,Bourahima Kone,Nadie Coulibaly,Djeneba Dabitao,Bocar Baya,Mamoudou Maiga,F Bougoudogo,Fasse Samake,Sounkalo Dao,Seydou Doumbia,Souleymane Diallo,Bassirou Diarra +22 more
TL;DR: MDR strains were less competitive than WT strains in 83.3% of cases and generation number of WT strains was less than those of MDR strains in both individual and competitive culture.
