Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Impairs Fetal Endothelial Cell Functions Through a Mechanism Involving MicroRNA-101 and Histone Methyltransferase Enhancer of Zester Homolog-2
Ilaria Floris,Betty Descamps,Antonella Vardeu,Tijana Mitić,Anna Maria Posadino,Saran Shantikumar,Graciela Sala-Newby,Gianpiero Capobianco,Giuseppe Mangialardi,Lynsey Howard,Salvatore Dessole,Raul Urrutia,Gianfranco Pintus,Costanza Emanueli +13 more
TL;DR: GDM impairs HUVEC function via miR-101 upregulation, and EZH2 is both a transcriptional inhibitor and a target gene of mi R-101 in HUV ECs, and it contributes to some of the miR -101-induced defects of GDM-HUVECs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resveratrol alters human endothelial cells redox state and causes mitochondrial-dependent cell death
Anna Maria Posadino,Annalisa Cossu,Roberta Giordo,Angelo Zinellu,Salvatore Sotgia,Antonella Vardeu,Antonella Vardeu,Phu Thi Hoa,Le Hong Van Nguyen,Ciriaco Carru,Gianfranco Pintus +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that CYP2C9 mediates resveratrol-induced oxidative stress leading to mitochondria impairment and EC death, and the specific cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2C9 inhibitor, sulfaphenazole, counteracted both oxidative stress and mitochondrial membrane depolarization, providing EC protection against resver atrol-elicited pro-oxidant effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coumaric Acid Induces Mitochondrial Damage and Oxidative-Mediated Cell Death of Human Endothelial Cells
Anna Maria Posadino,Annalisa Cossu,Roberta Giordo,Angelo Zinellu,Salvatore Sotgia,Antonella Vardeu,Phu Thi Hoa,Phu Thi Hoa,Luca Deiana,Ciriaco Carru,Gianfranco Pintus +10 more
TL;DR: Moderate high doses of coumaric acid can promote CYP2C9-mediated oxidative stress eliciting mitochondrial-dependent ECs death and may pave the way toward mechanistic insight into NA effects on cardiovascular cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
A robust, state-of-the-art amperometric microbiosensor for glutamate detection.
TL;DR: It is concluded that a highly efficient GLU biosensor of minimal dimensions can be consistently and affordably constructed with relative ease and together with the possibility of cryopreservation this shall foster diffusion and exploitation ofGLU biosensors technology.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNAs as potential biomarkers in congenital heart surgery.
Serban Stoica,Dan M Dorobantu,Antonella Vardeu,Giovanni Biglino,Kerrie L. Ford,Domenico Bruno,Mustafa Zakkar,Andrew D Mumford,Gianni D Angelini,Massimo Caputo,Massimo Caputo,Costanza Emanueli,Costanza Emanueli +12 more
TL;DR: Plasma miR-1 is suggested as a novel potential circulating biomarker to predict early postoperative outcome and inform clinical management in pediatric heart surgery.
