Journal ArticleDOI
GABA-modulating bacteria of the human gut microbiota
Philip Strandwitz,Ki Hyun Kim,Darya Terekhova,Joanne K. Liu,Anukriti Sharma,Jennifer Levering,Daniel McDonald,David Dietrich,Timothy R. Ramadhar,Timothy R. Ramadhar,Asama Lekbua,Nader Mroue,Conor Liston,Eric J. Stewart,Marc J. Dubin,Karsten Zengler,Rob Knight,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Jon Clardy,Kim Lewis +21 more
TL;DR: The relative abundance of faecal Bacteroides was negatively correlated with an altered GABA-mediated response in a depression patient cohort and genome-based metabolic modelling of the human gut microbiota revealed multiple genera with the predicted capability to produce or consume GABA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations between fungal and bacterial microbiota of airways and asthma endotypes
Anukriti Sharma,Anukriti Sharma,Anukriti Sharma,Bharathi Laxman,Edward T. Naureckas,D. Kyle Hogarth,Anne I. Sperling,Julian Solway,Carole Ober,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Steven R. White +12 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates clear differences in the bacterial and fungal microbiota in asthma-associated phenotypes and provides additional support for considering microbial signatures in delineating asthma phenotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacomicrobiomics: The Holy Grail to Variability in Drug Response?
TL;DR: The current comprehension of the relationship of the microbiome, host biology, and pharmaceutical agents such as cardiovascular drugs, analgesics, and chemotherapeutic agents to human disease and treatment outcomes is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Arsenic rich Himalayan hot spring metagenomics reveal genetically novel predator-prey genotypes.
Naseer Sangwan,Naseer Sangwan,Carey Lambert,Anukriti Sharma,Vipin Gupta,Paramjit Khurana,Jitendra P. Khurana,R. Elizabeth Sockett,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Jack A. Gilbert,Rup Lal +11 more
TL;DR: Metagenomic assembly analysis of the microbial mats of an arsenic rich, hot spring was performed to describe the genotypes of the predator Bdellovibrio and the ecogenetically adapted taxa Enterobacter, and analysed the population level evolutionary dynamics (taxonomical and functional) of reconstructed genotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbial taxonomy in the era of OMICS: application of DNA sequences, computational tools and techniques.
Nitish Kumar Mahato,Vipin Gupta,Priya Singh,Rashmi Kumari,Helianthous Verma,Charu Tripathi,Pooja Rani,Anukriti Sharma,Nirjara Singhvi,Utkarsh Sood,Princy Hira,Puneet Kohli,Namita Nayyar,Akshita Puri,Abhay Bajaj,Roshan Kumar,Vivek Negi,Chandni Talwar,Himani Khurana,Shekhar Nagar,Monika Sharma,Harshita Mishra,Amit Kumar Singh,Gauri Dhingra,Ram Krishan Negi,Mallikarjun Shakarad,Yogendra Singh,Rup Lal +27 more
TL;DR: A review of genomic approaches that can be included in the scheme of taxonomy of bacteria and archaea based on computational and in silico advances to boost the credibility of taxonomic classification in this genomic era is presented.
