Journal ArticleDOI

Contribution of NAC Transcription Factors to Plant Adaptation to Land

TL;DR: The results show conservation of transcriptional regulation and cellular function between moss and Arabidopsis thaliana water-conducting cells, and the conserved genetic basis suggests roles for NAC proteins in the adaptation of plants to land.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple Classes of Transcription Factors Regulate the Expression of VASCULAR-RELATED NAC-DOMAIN7, a Master Switch of Xylem Vessel Differentiation

TL;DR: Overexpression of VND1-VND5, GATA12 and ANAC075, newly identified transcription factors that function upstream of V ND7, resulted in ectopic xylem vessel element formation, suggesting that VND7 transcription is a regulatory target of multiple classes of transcription factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hechtian Strands Transmit Cell Wall Integrity Signals in Plant Cells.

TL;DR: Results suggest that Hechtian strands play roles in sensing cell wall integrity, and targeted disruptions were induced, but no visible changes in cell morphology were detected.
Journal ArticleDOI

Possible contribution of TED6 and TED7, secondary cell wall-related membrane proteins, to evolution of tracheary element in angiosperm lineage

TL;DR: Detailed expression analysis of TED6 and TED7 genes in Arabidopsis thaliana showed that TED5 and TED6 are expressed in differentiating vessel elements of all organs examined here, and that TED6/7 may have made key contributions to the evolution of water-conducting cells from tracheids to vessels.
