Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary fatty acids and cardiovascular disease: an epidemiological approach.
TL;DR: Findings from metabolic and clinical studies reinforce findings from observational studies supporting recommendations to replace saturated and trans fat with unsaturated fat in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the effects of plant sterol ester and plant stanol ester-enriched margarines in lowering serum cholesterol concentrations in hypercholesterolaemic subjects on a low-fat diet.
TL;DR: STAEST and STEEST margarines reduced significantly and equally serum total and LDL cholesterol concentrations as part of a low-fat diet.
Journal ArticleDOI
n−3 Fatty acids and 5-y risks of death and cardiovascular disease events in patients with coronary artery disease
TL;DR: High proportions of n-3 fatty acids in serum lipids are associated with a substantially reduced risk of death in patients with established CAD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fish intake is associated with a reduced progression of coronary artery atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women with coronary artery disease
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the association between fish intake and the progression of coronary artery atherosclerosis in women with coronary artery disease and found that higher fish consumption was associated with smaller decreases in minimum coronary artery diameter and fewer new lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Link between plasma ceramides, inflammation and insulin resistance: association with serum IL-6 concentration in patients with coronary heart disease.

TL;DR: The results strongly suggest that the link between ceramides, IR and inflammation is related to the inflammatory marker IL-6, and may contribute to the induction of inflammation involved in IR states that frequently coexist with CHD.
