Journal ArticleDOI
Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation and Long-Term Risk of Stroke After Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery.
Umberto Benedetto,Mario Gaudino,Arnaldo Dimagli,Stephen Gerry,Alastair Gray,Belinda Lees,Marcus Flather,David P. Taggart +7 more
TL;DR: Findings challenge the notion that pAF is a benign complication and suggest patients with pAF after coronary artery bypass grafting are at higher risk of cerebrovascular accident.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of total arterial grafting in the Arterial Revascularization Trial.
David P. Taggart,Mario Gaudino,Stephen Gerry,Alastair Gray,Belinda Lees,Arnaldo Dimagli,John D. Puskas,Vipin Zamvar,Rafał Pawlaczyk,Alistair Royse,Marcus Flather,Umberto Benedetto,Art investigators +12 more
TL;DR: When compared with SAG, both MAG and TAG represent valuable strategies to improve clinical outcomes following coronary artery bypass grafting but TAG can potentially provide further benefit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Machine learning improves mortality risk prediction after cardiac surgery: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Fagui Liu,Umberto Benedetto,Arnaldo Dimagli,Shubhra Sinha,Lucia Cocomello,Ben Gibbison,Massimo Caputo,Tom R. Gaunt,Matthew Lyon,Christopher Holmes,Gianni D Angelini +10 more
TL;DR: A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing the discrimination accuracy between ML models versus LR in predicting operative mortality following cardiac surgery suggests that when compared with LR, ML models provide better discrimination in mortality prediction after cardiac surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences in outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting: a pooled analysis of individual patient data.
Mario Gaudino,Antonino Di Franco,John H. Alexander,Faisal G. Bakaeen,Natalia N. Egorova,Paul Kurlansky,Andreas Boening,Joanna Chikwe,Michelle Demetres,Philip J. Devereaux,Anno Diegeler,Arnaldo Dimagli,Marcus Flather,Irbaz Hameed,Andre Lamy,Jennifer S. Lawton,Wilko Reents,N. Bryce Robinson,Katia Audisio,Mohamed Rahouma,Patrick W. Serruys,Hironori Hara,David P. Taggart,Leonard N. Girardi,Stephen E. Fremes,Umberto Benedetto +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, a systematic review and pooled analysis of high-quality individual patient data from large CABG trials to compare the adjusted outcomes of women and men was conducted, showing that women have worse outcomes than men after coronary artery bypass grafting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of outcomes following surgery for type A acute aortic dissection: the UK National Adult Cardiac Surgical Audit.
Umberto Benedetto,Arnaldo Dimagli,Amit Kaura,Shubhra Sinha,Giovanni Mariscalco,George Krasopoulos,Narain Moorjani,Mark Field,Trivedi Uday,Simon Kendal,Graham Cooper,Rakesh Uppal,Haris Bilal,Jorge Mascaro,Andrew T. Goodwin,Gianni D Angelini,Geoffry Tsang,Enoch Akowuah +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, a multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed with fast backward elimination of variables and the bootstrap-based optimism-correction was adopted to assess model performance.
