Journal ArticleDOI

Predictors of Adverse Outcome Among Patients With Hypertension and Coronary Artery Disease

TL;DR: In hypertensive patients with CAD, increased risk for adverse outcomes was associated with conditions related to the severity of CAD and diminished left ventricular function, and lower follow-up BP and addition of trandolapril to verapamil SR each were associated with reduced risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy of a Test-Retest Strategy in Residents and Health Care Personnel of a Nursing Home Facing a COVID-19 Outbreak.

TL;DR: This study shows the validity of the updated American Testing Guidance for Nursing Homes (NHs) and suggests implementing COVID-19 infection prevention and control measures in both residents and HCP with positive testing or with CO VID-19 symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Short Telomeres, but Not Telomere Attrition Rates, Are Associated With Carotid Atherosclerosis.

TL;DR: The thesis that heightened telomere attrition during adult life might not explain the short telomeres observed in subjects with atherosclerotic disease is supported, rather, short telomerres antecedes the clinical manifestation of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Valsartan on Mechanical Properties of the Carotid Artery in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats Under High-Salt Diet

TL;DR: Despite a reduction in mean arterial pressure in HSD rats, AT1 blockade was not able to prevent the effects of a HSD on pulse pressure, carotid artery stiffness, and hypertrophy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of a chronic high-salt diet on large artery structure: role of endogenous bradykinin

TL;DR: A high-salt diet plus Hoe-140 acted synergistically on carotid hypertrophy and elastin content in SHR, suggesting that the role of endogenous bradykinin on arterial structure was amplified in the presence of a high-Salt diet.
