Journal ArticleDOI

Transformation of white poplar (Populus alba L.) with a novel Arabidopsis thaliana cysteine proteinase inhibitor and analysis of insect pest resistance

TL;DR: The results indicate that Atcys could be succesfully employed in breeding programmes aimed at the selection of new poplar genotypes resistant to major insect pests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vesicle-associated Membrane Protein ofArabidopsis Suppresses Bax-induced Apoptosis in Yeast Downstream of Oxidative Burst *

TL;DR: It is suggested that intracellular vesicle traffic can regulate execution of apoptosis by affecting the rate of membrane recycling and that the proline-rich N-terminal domain of VAMP inhibited this process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Caspase‐like activity in the seedlings of Pisum sativum eliminates weaker shoots during early vegetative development by induction of cell death

TL;DR: It is shown that shoot selection in pea seedlings is controlled by PCD, through the activation of caspase-like proteases, in contrast to the papain-like cysteine protease activity that was stronger in the dominant shoot.
